Let's go bike-camping Silver Comet Trail

  • April 5, 2013 · 9:00 AM

Start at Marvel Rd and travel 37.66 to 45 miles with camping gear on bike.  WE WILL STOP AT FRANKIE'S FOR AT LEAST ONE MEAL. Camp either near Rockmart at a commercial campground or go another few miles for a biker campground.

Ride to campground on Friday, tour around on Saturday and ride back to vehicles on Sunday.

We will start at the Marvel Rd trail head which is 3 hours from Fountain Inn without traffic. Park the cars and start riding.

the commerical campground the Rock is $5.00 per person per night no RSVP needed.  Have not been able to find out about biker campgrounds so sent an e-mail for more information to the Silver Comet group, hope to hear from them soon.

was a very nice bike trail with a lot of up but we did very well and Frankie's was delicious. The campground was good for what we needed and would go again if we ever decide to ride on that trail again. thanks all for coming had a great time

Had a great time riding on the Silver Comet bike trail for three days. There were lots of other riders on Sunday. One group was surprised to see bike campers. Excellent trail. Thanks to Janice, Judi, and Bill for making it a fun event.

Thinking that the campgrounds will have drinking water. Will bring a gallon to leave in truck just in case.

It appears I won't be able to make it this time. I'll be looking out for another opportunity.

I'm already booked that weekend, but do I understand that you plan to bicycle 45 mes one way with a full pack. If so, I couldn't do it anyway.

45 miles is the plan for Friday and Sunday, Saturday we will probably ride at least 20 or so more on down toward Alabama and then back.

I have a pair of panniers you can use. You would need to get a rack on your bike.
