Downtown Hike Series: The Fountains of Greenville (Rescheduled)

Leave at 6:15 p.m. sharp.  I expect to finish about 8:30 p.m. Stop for coffee or supper after for those who are interested.

We are going to be visiting some of the fountains scattered around downtown Greenville.

Fountains bring nature into the city. They provide a place to sit and listen and be soothed, a place for children to play, and some are art pieces. Fountains add to the walkability of a city.

This is one of my favorite downtown hikes for some reason. Bring your cameras! and be ready for adventure.

The Downtown Hike Series is a series of hikes that is intended to introduce you to a downtown Greenville you may not know and focuses on art, fountains, buildings, gardens, and other places of interest that make walking more interesting.

My favorite fountain is also the one by the Lazy Goat. I like to stand on the stairs between the two and listen to the sound of the water surrounding me.

Really enjoyed meeting everyone last night! Carolina thanks for the tour and sharing all the information about the fountains. Looking forward to getting together again. So glad the weather was in our favor!

Very interesting and much different "hike" than we usually do. Thanks for a fun evening Caroline.....I liked the Lazy Goat fountain, but I hold a special place in my heart for the one in front of the suspension bridge, next to Spill the Beans coffee shop.

This was a fun outing. The weather turned out nice and I didn't realize that were so many fountains around the downtown area. And there are evidently a few more plus the ones that are under construction that can be seen for the next tour. I liked the one next to the Lazy Goat the best as well. Besides being interactive fun for the kids (okay I admit to wanting to get in the water as well), the train and train tracks (which I noticed for the first time), and the multiple levels creating falls that make up the fountain. Basically a great time with new friends and our engaging tour guide. Thanks Caroline.

My favorite fountain is the one at the One Liberty building - unfortunately it was turned off this evening. The shooting fountains into the bowl are endlessly fascinating. Thanks for leading the walk, Mother Caroline.
