yes we hike and camp in the winter, dress appropriately, it is 11 degrees when this picture was taken. IT WAS COLD.
We will camp in some of the many campsites by the river and do a hike for Saturday afternoon and a small hike Sunday morning.
This is about a 1/2 mile walk in to the tent sites, will need to filter water from the river unless you bring your own, I image they will have the pump turned off. there is a pit toilet if it is open. You can bring a cooler if you want to carry it but it must be secured to prevent racoons, bears etc from getting in it and there are bear ropes in place to hang your food from.
If you just want to hike that will be fine also, will have posted at the kiosk which direction we will be camping and hope to start the hike at 11:30 AM.
Hike Saturday: 6-8 miles moderate will post more
Hike Sunday: 4-6 miles moderate.
please bring clothing appropriate for the weather. It is always colder closer to the river and in the outdoors than in the city. Be prepared.
For those wanting to car pool I will be at the K-Mart in Easley at 0800.
