Trail Days at Damascus

Worlds largest backpacker gathering and vender's meeting set in a beautiful town.  We will be camping in the mist of all of the actvities in the campgrounds set up for people in town.  this is a come in and get a spot campground, $5.00 per person for the weekend and $20. for the car or truck to park for the weekend.  We will be posting on a sign at the check in where we are in the campgrounds.

I suggest one pack a backpack as the field is very large and you may have a small hike in to your campsite.  No cars are allowed anywhere near the tent area.

we will be eating a lunch on the way up and either lunch or supper on the way back depending on what time we leave.

To find out more search trail days and you will find lots of information.

really glad to be camping in the mist of all of the hikers, had a great time walking around and just watching. The creeper trail is always a great bike ride and I did much better this time around. Great time will do again some time in the future. thanks alll for coming.

Liked being in the main event area listening to music, watching the crowd celebrate Trail Days, and having a delicious pineapple drink. Riding the scenic Creeper Trail again for two days was a blast. Had a relaxing, fun time with our group. Thanks Janice for organizing this event.

I really enjoyed the lower half of the Creeper Trail although it was more challenging. Lots of fun people to look at and talk to over the weekend. A great way to begin the Summer with ice cream, lemonade, and outdoor music and activities.

Had a wonderful time at Trail Days on Saturday. Thanks Bill/Marianna for letting me tag along on the VA Creeper Trail and side trip to the winery.

Trail days were interesting and the town ran the event very well. When camping out with about 2,000 or more others, you need to get there early. Nice rides up and down the Creeper Trail with a side trip to a winery.

my best answer is to park in the camp ground parking lot and call. You can try calling before you get there and we can tell you about where we are or will be. Tamara call me or Judi before you get there so we know about when each will arrive.

Jim this is going to be what ever you want, you can ride, you can just walk around town and enjoy the venders and talks, or you can hike.

sorry about the confusion. Yes the creeper trail is for bikes and hikers and on this weekend we plan on riding the bikes. It is like the Swamp Rabbit trail only it is gravel most of the way. The first part of the trail from the campsite down to Damascus is down hill so the ride back will be difficult unless you are used to that. Some of us may be hiking our bikes back uphill.

I looked up the creeper trail and it looks like a biking rather than hiking trail so when you say "ride into Damascus" I need to ask if I need a bicycle as required equipment for this adventure. It was not clear if this was a hiking/biking trip. Don't have a bike so that might make keeping up a bit tough.
