Backpacking the AT in Georgia,

Three forks to Neel Gap 27.4 miles.

we will be hiking at least 10 miles Friday and Saturday and a hard day on Sunday going over blood mountain which I have heard has no switchbacks.  There are sections where there is not water so be prepared to carry at least 3 liters of water.  Bring a tent because not sure if we will be in a shelter or not and we need to be flexible. The chance of rain is good also as it is summer so be prepared for that also.

shuttle will be worked on.

no dogs or pets please.  we will be stopping for food on the way home somewhere which is generally the first place we find that looks good.  We will also share the cost of the gas for the vehicles needed for travel and shuttle/

Views on Blood Mountain worth the hard work. Even the rain cooperated for the most part.

Another fun adventure in GA. Longer mileage got us really moving up the hills. Blood Mt turned out to be not very hard, but back down the trail to Neels Gap squeezing through rocky outcrops meant lots of concentration. Thanks Janice for organizing long shuttle and camping.

Blood Mountain is the highest peak in Georgia on the AT and the 6th highest in the state. It should be a good challenge though.

When this hike is finished I will have hiked about 90% of the AT in Georgia. So far I've loved it.

It looks like I will have to stick to overnight backpacking trips for a while. Miss hiking with you all.

I am on the waiting list so I'm not for sure if I'm going. If I get to go, I do have a car to drive there with four seats, but no tent that is feasible for me to take with me. The only tent I have is for five people and is too heavy for me to carry on a long hike.

I hiked the AT once before and loved it. I would very much like to go on this hike, however I don't have a vehicle to get there. Is there anyone going who would be willing to give me a ride. I live in Greenville, SC, near the corner of North Pleasantburg Dr and Rutherford Rd. I don't mind paying my share of the gas. I would be would be grateful if anyone can help with a ride.
