Triple ByPass Training Ride - Out & Back Bergen Park to Idaho Springs

It's time to start getting some harder rides in to prepare for the Triple Bypass. So I will be riding from Bergen Park over Squaw Pass down to Idaho Springs and then back.

The ride is 65 miles with 7,400' of climbing, I rode this last week and the total ride time was 5.5 hours with total time out on the road of 6.5 hours so plan on spending some time in the saddle. I may add some additional miles at the end to make it 70-75 miles but that will depend on how everyone feels.

If you are looking for a great training ride come and join in on the fun! Okay fun may be a stretch but it will help get us ready. I'm not looking to set any records on the climb so everyone is welcome regardless of how fast you climb.

For the initial climb we will regroup at the Echo Lake Lodge which allows us to get out of the wind and elements if needed. Then we will descend to Idaho Springs and take a break to refuel at the Kum & Go gas station. Once everyone is ready we will head back up to the top of Squaw Pass regrouping at the Echo Lake Lodge again. Once we regroup there is about 3 miles to the summit and then it's downhill to the cars.

The great thing about this ride is it's out and back so you can go as far as you want then then turnaround.

The weather forecast is for cloudy skies and a high of 81 in Evergreen and 73 in Idaho Springs so bring warm clothes for the descents!

This goes without saying but I'm going to anyways...Come prepared with lots of food and water!

Once we are done large amounts of food will be in order so let's grab some lunch!

I would like to start as close to 9am as possible since we will be on the road for so long. Let's meet at my car which is a Red Suburban.

We will meet at the Parking lot off Evergreen Pkwy. Take I70 to the Evergreen Pkwy Ext and go 2.6 miles. The parking lot will be on the left.
