Creekers & Friends ( Ladies & Gents ),

UTC Wash Park Pickup Volleyball - Wed Oct 14 - 4:00 PM~Dark

Same place as last week

Dave Hermes has graciously agreed to bring his net for UTC Recreational Play. If anybody can bring another net as a backup that would be great. If the group gets enough players for two nets then perhaps there could be 2 levels of play going on.

We meet in the middle of Wash Park ( rectangle ) just in from Downing & Tennessee

Nice playing from the V-Ball Crews last week. We had 2 nets going ranging from 3 X 4 to 6 X 6. It was really cool to see different levels of play going on. We always aim to try and please the masses. This go around, 70 Degrees and low winds.

Fall V-Ball is finally here so let it all out and shine !!!
Come play and join in with the Awesome Wash Park Scene ( multiple nets for sure )

Lets continue on a roll with the V-Ball Fun !!!

Nice playing from the crews all summer long with the 4 X 4 & 6 X 6 games. The Bonus is playing with a variety of age groups and a variety of skill levels. This is definitely an EOE scene with something for everybody. The scenery is mighty fine and it feels like an AVP Party. Bravo to all who show up early and hang in there till the last ray of hope. Since the two groups are getting to know each other, the fun is increasing and there will never be a dull moment on the Green Grass Knoll. There's nothing like playing summer ball in a blaze of glory on a Mile High Chamber of Commerce Day with awesome B.S.S. !!!

The weather looks good for V-Ball this coming Wednesday. Dave Hermes will be manning the nets this Wednesday. We should have a few nets to get the games rolling. The UTC sign will not be by the nets till next year. Please be prompt as we would like to get the games rolling ASAP. We are anticipating a good turnout as Fall Fever is alive and well.

We meet in the middle of Wash Park ( rectangle ) just in from Downing & Tennessee near the large playground and at the corner of the famous oak trees where we have been meeting for years. We locate about 50 – 70 Yards east of the playground out in the open field. This is near all the other V-Ball Nets that exists each week. Just look for the Doo Dah Man and we will have a UTC Sign visible. Try my cell #[masked] if you are lost or on the wrong net.

Catch the V-Ball Fever !!! Round up a Buddy and stroll on in for the V-Ball fun and the awesome spring fever seen throughout Wash Park. Each week we get new Creekers show up so it is very interesting week to week. Some of the folks come to socialize and that is really cool. Some weeks, we get a variety of games in that entail 2's,3's,4's,5's,6's. Feel free to bring non-members, family, and friends. If you have a volleyball, please bring it so we have extra balls for practicing skills.

The start time for this Wednesday Oct 14 will be 4:00 PM. Temps look to be around 75 Degrees at game time. As long as weather conditions are dry, low winds, and above 55 Degrees we will be there ready to play. If the weather is iffy, we will wait it out for at least an hour since spring rains often come and go quickly.

We would like players to be on time this year and break our tardy habits of the past. We need help setting up the nets and we need to respect everybody’s time so players do not have to wait around. Of course we always welcome temporary last minute stragglers and those folks who can only come for part of the time. The socializing is just as important as the Volleyball so any Non-Players who want to join our group are welcomed as well. Feel free to bring other games, frisbees, bikes, lawn chairs, coolers with libations, music, and great jokes. Be sure to bring plenty of water and other libations to hydrate.

Remember, this is 3 hit volleyball ( Bump, Set, Spike ) as oppose to Jungleball. We will train newcomers if they are not familiar with these skills.

Our goal is to satisfy all ability levels and get all interested players who show up involved in the action. If the turnout is light, of course it is okay to mix all types of ability levels on the same net. Like last year we would like to continue multiple nets for different ability levels. With 3 nets, we should be able to accommodate all ability levels assuming the turnout is large enough and varied as such:

Advanced Net - 3 Hit Volleyball ( Bump, Set, Spike ) at all times. This net would encompass those with proficient skills. Players in this category need to take the initiative to setup this net and make it happen. This net can consist of player teams ranging from 2 X 2 ~ 4 X 4. Advanced players who have been playing for years are looking for this type of volleyball.

Intermediate Net - 3 Hit Volleyball ( Bump, Set, Spike ) recommended. This net would encompass those with average skills. Players in this category need to take the initiative to setup this net and make it happen.

Beginner Net - 3 Hit Volleyball ( Bump, Set, Spike ) recommended. This net would encompass those learning the skills. Players in this category need to take the initiative to setup this net and make it happen.

Courtesy Rules:

Call the score before each serve so that all players can hear.

After each play is over roll the ball back to the server on the ground gently.

If you interfere with the net by touching it with your body please say that you netted and the play will be dead and serve will go to the other team.

Kicking the ball over the net is allowed as long as it is a soft attempt out of desperation.

Net serves are only good when playing 4 X 4 or greater.

Come out to an awesome venue where the sights are plentiful and awesome V-Ball games await your participation !!! Most importantly, bring your Ferrets since they deserve open space and clean city air.

Let’s continue this great UTC Tradition !!! This has always been a lot of fun for Creekers over the years and we look forward to seeing you guys out on the green grassy knoll real soon for some "Good Ole Urban Fun" !!!

Thanks,

Doo Dah
