Do you currently have urban hens and want to meet other chickeners? Would you like to have a few hens and want information about what chickens need and how to be a responsible owner? Then this is the group to join.

Generally speaking, there will be personal chat and mingle time. Sometimes we will have a guest speaker who will share their expert advice on various educational topics such as coop design, chicken health and wellness, organic food sources, establishing a buyer's cooperative and others. Hope to see you at the next meet-up! This is a fun group. Fabulous door prizes.

If you haven't seen the wonderful PBS documentary, A Natural History of Chickens, you won't want to miss this meet up. It is a thought provoking and humorous hour-long PBS documentary about how chickens have enriched the lives of others.

“Dottie, how did you hear about us? In the county on a small farm, I am jealous! Green bean casserole for the next meet up sounds great. I wouldn't worry about dairy content in your dish. Many are vegetarian so it's all good.”

We had a good meeting with some fabulous new chickeners and Diane Oxford, Dave and Jo Larsen, "old" chickeners. Hope to see you next time at the West Asheville Library on Thursday Dec. 11, 6 p.m. We're going to pot luck and watch a movie. Hope you can come!”
