Your very own Meetup resident opera singer, Claudette, will be performing her second show with Opera On Tap along with other local talent. Be a ‘fly on the wall’ (as it were) of this audition with twist – no stuffy studio audition with this group. Check out all the new talent in Seattle while drinking a beer and chillin' at the Blue Moon. You get to enjoy a brew and some awesome opera - What's not to like?
Your Diva/Organizer extraordinaire will be performing the famous Habanera aria from Carmen (even if you’re not into opera, you’ve heard this sexy piece). If the judges want to hear a second piece (maybe the crowd can persuade them to ask for an encore), they get to choose the next piece from Claudette’s list:
- “Chacun à son gout” from Die Fledermaus by Strauss (English/German)
- “Il vecchiotto cerca moglie” from Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini (Italian)
- “Entweihte Götter” from Lohengrin by Wagner (German)
- “Sir Rupert Murgatroyd” from Ruddygore by Gilbert and Sullivan (English)
Be ready to have the singers interact with you in the audience.
There is a $5 cover. Due to the venue, you must be 21+ to attend.
This is a cross-posted/multi-Meetup event. Look for the Meetup sign with find others (probably near the front). Feel free to copy/post in other groups and invite friends.
Opera on Tap is a non-profit organization whose mission is to break down the stereo-type that opera is a stuffy or elitist art form by bringing it to bars. Local singers let their hair down and bring you into what feels like an after hours back stage party, singing some of opera's best known and little known pieces in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The Seattle chapter has been featured on the cover of Seattle Weekly's Spring Arts issue in 2012, as well as in Seattle Met Magazine, Seattle Magazine, The Stranger, and King 5 News.
