USA Dance Pittsburgh, It's a Spring Fling

Announcing a new dance venue for USA Dance Pittsburgh!

Please join us for a wonderful evening of ballroom dancing on Saturday, April 13 at 7:00pm at the beautiful Teutonia Mannerchor in Pittsburgh (Deutschtown), PA.

The Teutonia Mannerchor is located on the North Side, near Troy Hill at 857 Phineas St., Pittsburgh 15212 (across from 16th St. Bridge).  It may be a little tricky to find at first, some one-ways, but you will be glad you did.  Free parking in their private lot.

Founded in 1854, Teutonia Mannerchor is a historic, German membership Club, complete with a German restaurant (ratskeller), a beautiful bar, wall murals, hardwood floors and gorgeous chandeliers. Not to worry though, you don't have to wear the traditional German attire either, which includes apron like dresses for women (dirndl) and leather pants for men (lederhosen).

Food and drink available.  Come a little early for dinner, 5:30 - 8:30 pm in the Ratskeller if you would like to experience German cuisine.  Click on link to see menu.  Balcony seating over looking the dance floor is available.

7:00pm - Rhumba lesson w/Chris Roth of Steel City Ballroom

8:00-11:00pm - Ballroom dancing with DJ Mark Boucher

$10.00 - USA Dance Member

$15.00 - Non-USA Dance Member

$5.00 - Full-Time Students with ID

Dance professionals--no charge, as usual!

I thought that the dance floor was amazing, except for the fact that it was very overcrowded.. The more experienced dancers were a danger to we who are attempting to learn... My friend was kicked very badly in the leg, and a lady I was dancing with was nearly knocked to the floor during the swing mixer.. Both of these things were caused by very well experienced dancers having no regard for others ..

As one of the six people who took two hours to set up for the dance by lifting and moving all the tables and chairs, I also want to thank all those who helped replace tables!

The response to Gretchen's request for help to restore the Ballroom to its pre-dance condition was overwelming. So many people helped and USA Dance Pgh is most appreciative. The management of the Mannechor was very impressed. We left it cleaner than we found it and that is saying something for a German Club !

The dance was great and I loved how the DJ played a variety of music throughout the evening, including music that the other DJs don't think of and only play by request such as QuickStep, Bachata, Viennese Waltz, Mambo and Nightclub 2 Step.

I had a fine time with dancing on the nice wood floor at a classy place and expanded my Rumba.

This was a great dance. Well attended with well over 100 people. A great lesson with Chris Roth of Steel City Ballroom Mt. Lebanon. Many volunteeers to help put things back in position after the dance.

If parking is full, we have permission to park at the Penn Brewery lot two blocks away. We expect a big crowd at this first time venue. Dress is not fancy but please no jeans, and have fun.

Dinner is served in the Ratskeller 5:30 - 8:30. Parking is available in their lot or across from Penn Brewery.

If you like German food, Dennis, Mannerchor is the place to be. Some good stuff and some weird stuff too--being German, I am allowed to say. Like Dave said, click on menu link. Or go directly to Teutonia Mannerchor website and that should do the trick.

I hope we can get the menu or something published so people can come early for dinner. I believe this new venue has a lot of potential for both USA Dance and Teutonia Mannerchor.

This place is easy to get to but you need to go around the block to get into the parking. http://goo.gl/maps/4oGCL

If you see the back of the building and you do the "obvious" and turn onto Chestnut St. from Ohio Blvd. like I did the first time I went there, you will run into a LOT of one way streets going the wrong way.

See my map link above for more detail.
