Really enjoyed the meetup and it's great seeing how many Go enthusiasts there are in Utah. Also, props for having a healthy food option. I ate before I came due to concerns there would only be pizza but there was salad as well!

The salad was Cindy's idea. She's good at thinking of things like that. I'll let her know it was appreciated!

Hi everyone, hopefully you guys enjoyed the meetup last night. We had over 20 people show. It was really great talking to everyone afterward.

We had a couple of hiccups:

    1) Apparently Google Maps doesn't show the location of the meetup well. We'll work on getting better directions for the next one.

    2) The building doors apparently lock at 6:30. (We thought it was 7:00). We got someone from MediaForge to sit downstairs and open the door for people, so that worked, but hopefully everyone that tried to get in got in.

I also forgot to thank everyone involved last night: Thanks to MediaForge for hosting the meeting, and for providing WIFI, equipment, and buying food. Also, a huge thanks to Cindy (our director of people and culture) here at MediaForge for getting the food ordered, taking pictures, cleaning up, etc.

I will get the next meetup scheduled and announce shortly. We'll probably change to the 4th tuesday, as several wanted that and I heard nothing against it.

Hey sorry, had to un-rsvp...servers have issues from time to time, who knew.

    • Brian G. M.

No problem, I'll eat your share of the pizza. Good luck with the servers.

For those wanting to get an editor up and running, I've created a blog post about getting Sublime Text 3 set up nicely for editing Go. It does not cover installation of Go, however.

Hi Julie! Being our first meeting we'll probably take a little time to make sure everyone has Go installed and knows how to set up a Go environment.

It would be good to give it a shot beforehand.

If you are using Linux or Mac OS, you can install Go using your favorite package manager. Or here's a link with some alternate instructions:
    http://golang.org/doc/install

And here's some good info for setting up your dev environment:
    http://golang.org/doc/code.html

As far as Eclipse goes it looks like there are some options for Go. I've never used eclipse, and Go makes building and managing your environment super easy, so you may find it unnecessary.

    Hi All,
Looking forward to Tuesday meeting. Newbie question: should I setup anything env wise to save time? It's been ~ 3 years, but I did all my dev in eclipse. Is that what u guys use, or is there some other more appropriate freeware / open source app I should get going on my machine? --Julie

This is wonderful! I just got back from GopherCon in Denver and I have been missing the interaction with other Go devs!
