Sunday hike: Little Black Mountain

  • April 13, 2014 · 9:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Distance: 7mi round trip. This will take us about 4 hours to complete.

Elevation gain: 2,625 ft. We will pace ourselves comfortably

Difficulty: 3 out of 5

Gear needed:

water

sunblock

food

good hiking shoes

Dogs: allowed off leash

I wouldn't recommend this hike for beginners. We will leave at 9:40am, please be on time!

I did this hike in January, and it offers great views of SLC and the Wasatch Front.

We will meet at the trailhead, which starts in the Avenues neighborhood. Afterwards, there will be an option of going out for food & drinks.

Thanks Bryant for helping me get back down the mountain. I couldn't have done it without your encouragement.

Had to run. Left the top and booked it down. Sunday work shifts are not fun. Snowy at the top. Rain at my car. Bright sun at home. Gotta love the weather.

Ok we will keep this hike for SUNDAY. If it is lightly raining we will still go, but not if it is pouring down. Keep an eye on here for updates. :) If all else fails, we reschedule for in a few weeks. What's the worse that could happen? ;)

Just not an old person that goes to bed at 10pm on a Saturday night :p

If you want to keep it Sunday I'm willing to risk it. It could be fun and invigorating!

40% chance if rain Sunday. Should we move it back to Saturday? It IS supposed to be sunny and warm.

    April 11

    • Carl

We could enjoy nature as it presents itself. Rain it not. 40% rain =60% sun. (But I went out on a 20% rain day and got flashflooded on) either is fine. Just no bailing if the weather does change. Either day is fine.

AND windy. I know there are 2 other hikes tomorrow, but I won't be able to host this hike for about 3 weeks cuz I'll be out of town.

Dogs? No dogs? Can Odie make this one?

    March 31

    • Alicia

Yes dogs are allowed off leash. It's 7mi and fairly steep towards the top/ it might be tough for your little guys
