Thursday Evening Exploratory Hike-Jefferson Hollow

As summer approaches, I'm resurrecting my "early" Thursday hikes to help myself, and others, get back into hiking shape for summer. I'll be using these, once again, to try out new trails and explore new locations. Pace will vary depending on who shows up, and what trail we are doing. Come out and be ready for the big hikes we'll be doing this summer!

We had this one scheduled a few Mondays ago, but were unable to find any info on the trail. I have a few leads, so we'll meet at the park and ride, and see what happens ;)

And that would be where? Trying to make it from work, if you can post address when you find it, that would be great!

This is our backup if we can't find the Jefferson Hollow trail, or it might actually BE the Jefferson Hollow trail, lol.

We aren't meeting at the trailhead, but you can try to catch us at the Deaf Smith Canyon Trailhead. From Wasatch Boulevard, turn onto Golden Hills Drive and continue driving until about 8700 south. At the crest of the hill there is a small private road that joins Golden Hills Drive. Park here and start hiking up this road. At the end of the road is the trailhead.

Do we know the complexity, round-trip distance, elevation gain of this trail?

No we do not. One of the reasons we are doing it is to find out more about the trail, since there are no write ups that we can find. According to Rhonda, who did it last year, it is a moderate to difficult level and fairly steep.

Excited for tonight, people. Should be an adventure! Make sure you are prepared for any weather. Cotton clothing is strongly discouraged, due to the risk of Hypothermia in cold/wet conditions. Wear at your own risk! Bring a light, water, gloves, hat, and a willingness to get down and dirty as we explore this new trail. Want to leave the park and ride by 5:45.

I think i have a good idea. If not, there is another trail for Deaf Smith Canton right next to it.
