Wednesday Night Hike for Beginners! - Rattlesnake Gulch to the Overlook

This is going to be a beginner hike designed to prepare you for the longer Monday night hikes which go at a faster pace. We will try to stick together as a group and try to keep a pace that will allow everyone to enjoy each other’s company.

Distance: 4mi round trip

elevation gain: 1000ft

Dogs: allowed off leash on ODD days, must be leashed on even days and in the parking area at all times.MAKE SURE you bring enough water for the dogs! Last hike people ran out and had to turn around. I recommend a minimum of at least ONE LITER per dog.

Kids: yes

After the hike we go to the Canyon Inn to sit by the fire.

Think I'll pass on this one. I need to get gear to be better prepared. Have a great hike. See you next time

Please DONT wear anything Cotten if it's raining tonight! You will be sent home. Wearing cotton in rain insulates the cold, making your body temp drop - not fun or safe! Invest in good rain gear.

One more question. If it is steep and rainy, is it slippery? At my age it takes a whole long time to heal if something breaks.

Just depends on how much it rains. Do you have poles? Those would help

You could always wear a memory foam suit;).

Soooo...rain gear? If it is pouring, will we still go?

    May 6, 2014

    • Alicia

unless there is lighting, we still hike. I highly recommend getting a waterproof rain jacket

      May 6, 2014

I do not have rain gear. If it rains and is cold, I will back out -- sorry. I may change my RSVP tomorrow depending on the weather. I am really looking forward to it so NO RAIN!

wait, waiting list, what? I haven't seen that happen on meetup before. does it mean I can't come?

    May 5, 2014

    • Alicia

On my hikes I am limiting them to 25 people. Over that is too many to keep an eye on, will be safer for everyone, and we can make the hikes more social by getting to know people better. Also some of these trail heads can't fit many cars, even when we do carpool. If you are on a wait list, that means you will need to wait for someone to change their RSVP so you can attend. Meetup will email you once that has happened.
