Monday Evening Hike - Bowman Fork

There will be TWO start times for this hike due to popularity. The first "early" group will leave the lot at 6:05pm with Alicia. The 2nd "later" group will leave at 6:45pm with Wayne.

Meetup location: Wasatch Blvd carpool lot on 3900 south.

Driving directions from the carpool lot: The trailhead is 4.7 miles up the canyon from Wasatch Blvd. at the Terraces picnic area.

Description: From the Bowman Fork trailhead, the trail begins a gradual ascent as it heads in a generally eastward direction for approximately 1 mile up the Bowman Fork drainage. The trail then leaves the drainage and turns south, making a series of switchbacks as it climbs to White Fir Pass, where the views open up into Porter Fork to the west. This is where we will stop to enjoy the view.

Distance: 4mi round trip

Elevation gain: 1500ft

Dogs: allowed off leash on ODD days, leashed on even days in Millcreek. There is a stream they can drink from.

Afterwards there we will go to Fiddler's Elbow for food & drinks.

This hike sounds fantastic but the time conflicts with a previous commitment. :(

    June 9

  • Alicia

Please read - there are now TWO groups for this hike, each leaving at a different time. I have opened up the RSVPs so everyone can go, but please don't all come to the same time.

Alicia how do I know which hike to come for. I'd rather do the 6:05 one. Is that ok?

    June 9

    • Alicia

I suggested that if you were in the original list, to come at the early one and it you were on the wait list, to come later.

      June 9

  • Janice

I guess I'm the later group. Can I ask if we can go to Fiddler's Elbow instead of Canyon Inn after the hike?

    June 8

    • Alicia

      I'm fine with that, I love Fiddler's!

      June 8

  • Lord Z

Will be joining the later group :)

    June 8

  • Dawn

Uh-oh, you just confirmed me. I thought I wasn't going to get in so have made other plans!

    June 8

    • Alicia

      June 8

  • Lee

Is there really a 30 people cap on this?

    June 8

    • Lee

@Wayne I'd be down for that. Sounds like there's others that would be interested as well

      June 8

    • Alicia

i updated details, we will have two start times

Is there any chance of a second group leaving later, say 6:30pm? Massively psyched for this hike but working late. I can help organize if needed?

    June 8

    • Janice

I would be up for the later group

      June 8

    • Alicia

Great! Mike that would be awesome if you want to do that. I'll edit details

      June 8

  • Roger

So what is the reason for the 30 cap, I changed my rsvp to add my two sons and got from included to wait list. Is this a hard wait list or just based upon parking? I can drive and take 2 more in my car.

    June 8

  • Janice

For those of us on the wait list, perhaps we can show up and do a different hike somewhere up Millcreek (perhaps Desolation overlook)

I don't think I've done this one before. Mind if I introduce myself and come along? I'm new to the group but not new to the outdoors ;)

    • Alicia

You bet, come along! We always have new people

    how difficult is this hike?

    May 29

    • Alicia

When I did it there was still a foot of snow, and it gradually goes up the whole way. It can get steep in some areas but no scrambling. Everyone can do this hike, just take your time uphill. It's only 2mi to the top, so not too bad. If you are a total beginner I wouldn't recommend doing it, but if you have a few hikes under your belt you'll be fine.

There won't be snow now though

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
