Responsive Web Design (Ethan Marcotte) – Bern

As Discussed at the last «meetup» in Bern we could read Ethan Marcottes «Responsive Web Design» (A book apart) and then discuss any questions, disagreements etc...

This would be awesome if we could hold this Meetup in Bern as we would like to get a regular thing going here as well.

Weyert proposed an alternative book: http://www.implementingresponsivedesign.com/

You are free to choose, which one suits you more.

People who don't manage to read the book in time, are also welcome as always.

Maximal 2 Levels in Hauptnavigation mit Off Canvas oder Fly Out Menu mit z. B. Akkordeon. Dann Navigation im Content oder am Ende vom Content. Navigation ab 3. Level wird eben im Content gemacht, zurück kommt man über einen Breadcrumb oder Zwischentitel die als Breadcrumb dienen.

Interessante Beispiele: http://www.shop.puma....

Hey there! I'm a new one here, I'm looking forward to meeting you guys and discussing UX :)

Note that Amazon.de apparently only carries the french version of the Responsive Web Design book, which is wrongly placed in the english books section.

Oh that would be great! I haven't made a reservation yet.

Has anybody reserved MusigBistrot yet? If not i could do that!

  • Stefani G.

Has anyone read both books and can point out the differences?

    October 5, 2012

  • Roland S.

Yeah, I agree. MusigBistrot would be a nice one, and has an appropriate extra room. I think Tramdepot is too noisy.
I think, we could leave it up to people, to choose which book to read. And then we can compare notes.
    Thanks for the book suggestion!

I propose the 13th October or 4th December (I don't want to be in conflict with the dates for campus: http://campus.meteotest.ch/doku.php Physical Prototyping / Git)

of course by 13th October I mean 13th November.

Aah, may I also suggest a different book on the same topic? The book is called Implementing Responsive Design written by Tim Kadlec. More information can be found on the book site: http://www.implementingresponsivedesign.com

Regarding the place, there are quite some nice places here in Bern. Musigbistrot is nice, or altes tramdepot (lovely homemade beer) or Burgunder.

I've never been to Bern, a quiet spot would be nice though! Hope I can block the day...

Hey, maybe we could meet at some of Bern's nice little bars, e.g. Musigbistrot or something similar, make a reservation for a quiet spot and dive into interesting discussion? That could add some flavour to our UX bookclub experience :-)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
