UX Café (for startups!) Message Board › Startup event this Wednesday from the UX Café team
I thought you might like to know about an event we're running this coming week in London, just around the corner from our usual events. It's from the same friendly folk that bring you UX Café, with a slightly different slant.
Some of you will already know that we're also behind The Happy Startup School, where we're helping budding entrepreneurs to develop their ideas into 'happy' startups within a community of likeminded people. We're bring together various disciplines with the aim of developing a more human, meaningful approach to starting a business – with elements from positive psychology, design thinking, lean startup and storytelling, to name a few. We run workshops, online classes, as well as providing inspiration, advice and resources to empower anyone with a burning desire to build a startup, to stop dreaming and start doing.
After the success of our recent summercamp (http://thehappystartu..., we're now hosting monthly meetups to continue where we left off and have a platform for some of the brilliant people that have inspired us a chance to share their stories. There'll be the usual beers, pizza, networking mix as well as some giveaways. Would be great to see some of you there, even if you're just curious about the startup world – we've already got some really interesting folk signed up. More details and booking info below. Any questions just ask.
Happy startup stories – learn how others have funded their idea
*Beers, pizza will be provided*
Our next gathering is confirmed for the last Wednesday of this month - 27th November (fairly short notice but it's one you won't want to miss, we promise). This will be held at our friends Poke London's office in Old St. We'll have 2 great talks based on real-life experiences of looking for funding and successfully achieving their goals.
Matt is co-founder of Made in Mind, and the business brains behind the innovative folding plug. He'll be giving us a talk on the different approaches to consider when raising funds for your idea as well as teaching us how to value our business for investment purposes.
We'll also be hearing from Olivia from Patchwork Present an innovative new startup with a simple idea – an alternative gift registry that lets friends come together to fund one gift that's really wanted – piece by piece. Olivia will be sharing her story of getting funding and their startup journey so far (they launched only recently).
