Discussing “Playful Design” by John Ferrara

For September, we’ll be reading and discussing Playful Design: Creating Game Experiences in Everyday Interfaces by John Ferrara.

Thanks to the publisher, Rosenfeld Media, Ferrara’s book is available at a discount to meetup members. See our perks page for the discount code.

For more about Ferrara, follow him on Twitter.

Remember, you can come to the meeting even if you haven’t read the book. Hope to see you there!

We're taking suggestions now for what YOU want to read next. Please contribute your ideas on this message board thread. We will pick the slate of books for the summer prior to the June meetup.

Hello everyone! Hadi and I have drafted the invitation letter we mentioned at the meetup earlier this week, inviting local developers and managers in the Champaign-Urbana community to The Accessible Community, a free accessibility workshop series being offered in October. At the meetup we asked if the other attendees would be open to taking a look at it and giving us feedback on the effectiveness & clarity of the note from a community member's perspective. I have uploaded a draft of the letter as a Word document to the Files area for this meetup group (http://www.meetup.com/UXBookClubCU/files/).

If you have a moment and are willing to provide us feedback before we send the letter out, we would greatly appreciate it!

Again, it was fun getting together with all of you, and we look forward to meeting up with you folks again in the future!

Thank you to all who provided feedback! As you have no doubt seen, we finalized our invitation and are now accepting applicants, so if you or anyone you know is interested in learning about accessibility, you can learn more and register at http://go.illinois.ed...

Here's the final version of the invitation letter for anyone interested:

Thanks again, Hadi and I are very pleased to have met all of you, and are very appreciative of the support you've shown us!

Maybe… it’s a fascinating topic, though I haven’t read this book yet. Unfortunately, another event across town may conflict… I hope I can make it.
