UX Champaign-Urbana (CU) Message Board › Spring preview: Jan-May events
Happy new year to our all of UX Book Club friends,
We have a lot planned for this spring and wanted to quickly preview our lineup for you and mention some other exciting events.
First, our regular book club meetups:
Saturday, Feb. 15 we are hosting our first weekend activity: Sketch Club
Join us for a fun afternoon of learning about different sketching techniques that are common in the user experience field. You’ll choose from 1 of 4 books to read ahead of time, and then we’ll spend the afternoon together practicing different methods. In addition, every participant will get some fun, inspiring tools and a few lucky ones will win some awesome big prizes donated by our sponsors. There is a $5 fee for this event and a limit of 30 attendees, so sign up soon! More details are on our meetup.com page.
Content Strategy is on our mind this spring! Kristina Halvorson, one of the pioneers of the content strategy movement, will be on the University of Illinois campus April 28-29 for the annual Web Conference. Inspired by Halvorson’s visit, we’re looking to ramp up local conversation and knowledge about content strategy.
Design Month: Our sister organization — CUDO, the Champaign-Urbana Design Organization — annually hosts a ton of great events in April, i.e. “design month.” Follow CUDO on Facebook and Twitter for further details.
More to come …
Stay in touch with us on our Facebook and Twitter accounts. We’ll be giving away both sketching and content strategy books this spring. We look forward to your feedback via those channels as well, and, of course, post comments and ideas on meetup.com
Have a great start to 2014! We’re looking forward to connecting with you at any and all of these events!
