vSharePoint - August 2013 Edition at Sector Learning Solutions

Hey folks,

We are returning to one of our original locations and this month are back at Sector.  Please be sure to share this event with others http://www.meetup.com/vsharepoint.

I hope you come join us.

Sean

Agenda

• 11:30 to 12:00 – Meet and Greet and grab a slice of pizza or two

• 12:00 to 1:00 – Kevin Dube, Records Management Presentation

• 1:00 to 1:15 – Monk Interactive Whiteboard Vendor Demo.  Get to know/see the new ActivBoard 500 Pro

• 1:15 to 2:00 – Sean Wallbridge, Leading an open Q&A SharePoint Discussion

For the last session (Q&A), this is based on recent feedback that many folks want to just “talk SharePoint”.  The idea is an opportunity to ask questions of the other folks in the room.  It is a collaborative session and will occupy whatever remaining time is left after the other presentations / lunch.

Prizes

As always we have some great give away's.  This month it sounds like a Lenovo Tablet will be on our list (waiting on this details).. . That’s right… we may be playing heads or tails for a Lenovo Tablet.

About the Presentations and Speakers

Kevin Dube, City of Langford

Title: Retention Management with SharePoint In Place Records – Records Management Toolkit - http://www.tracrecords.ca/rmtoolkit

Overview: There are some distinct challenges to managing retention when using SharePoint for in place records management.  Some very lightweight features have been created to help with retention management for in-place records.  These features allow the Records Manager to Centrally manage the retention of records in the farm.  This presentation will give a brief background of the different records retention management strategies in SharePoint (In Place vs. Records Centre), followed by an introduction tos the In Place Records management toolkit features.

Bio: Kevin Dube has been working with SharePoint since 2008 for the City of Langford wearing many hats (support, administration & development).  In the last couple of years Kevin has also been providing (in his spare time) some consulting services for SharePoint ECM build outs and creating customizations to augment the OOTB SharePoint ECM capabilities.  For more details on this check out  http://www.greenroomsolutions.ca/ecm-addins/
