Vancouver Flex/Flash/AIR Nov Meetup: Adobe Edge, Porting Games & More

Adobe Systems' Sr. Technical Evangelist, Duane Nickull, will open up this November Vancouver Flex/Flash/AIR Meetup with a 20 minute overview of Adobe Edge, an HTML5/JQuery and CSS WYSIWYG editor.  Duane will also provide a brief overview of the architecture and structure of the tooling and projects.

Alain-Daniel Bourdages, Developer at GreedCod, will provide a brief presentation on "Porting a game from Java (Android) to Flash".  Alain-Daniel will present an overview of the opportunities available for a Flash game, on the web and in the mobile world. On a more technical side, there will be a discussion of the challenges to convert a Java program to ActionScript and how to improve app performance for mobile. Finally there will be some tips about designing for multi-platform.

Spencer Wannop, Interactive Developer for Big Green Technical Solutions, will present on how to use Flash/AIR for front end development on a multitude of devices; such as iPad apps, touchscreen applications and multiscreen desktop applications. Included in his talk will be the advantages and pitfalls of using CPU vs GPU processing and communication between devices.
