Hi Vancouver Designers,

I am working building a learning marketplace for design and programming skills called Matygo, we started providing courses locally in the Fall. We’re still trying to learn what the local community is interested in learning; so if you or your team is interested in taking anything - from HTML & CSS to Photoshop - I'd love to hear from you. Please email me at paul@matygo.com and let me know what you’d like to learn and why you want to take an online class.

We have our first couple of design related courses coming up and I thought I might share them with you:

Adobe Photoshop. Learn how to make magic with Photoshop. Taught by East Side Games’ Art supervisor & BCIT Instructor, Tyler Higgs. 8 Tuesdays from 7:30pm - 8:30pm, Starting Jan 17. $299.

Adobe Illustrator. Name says it all - get to know the most powerful vector graphics tools out there. Taught by the talented Graphic Designer Meg Robichaud. 8 Thursdays from 7:30pm - 8:30pm, Starting Jan 19. $299.

HTML5 & CSS for Beginners: Aimed at total beginners, covers the fundamentals of front-end development, useful to anyone wanting to build on the Web. Eight Tuesdays from 7pm - 8pm, Starting Jan 17. $249.

Our classes are fully online but are quite interactive. This is how it works:

  • Weekly live group video workshop led by an instructor that clarifies and builds upon the week’s homework and provides personal guidance. We integrated Google Hangouts, so this is a true group video classroom (limited to 9 students) with screen sharing, whiteboarding, and more.
  • Private discussion forums, assignments, file and resource sharing. This is administered through the Matygo web and mobile apps (iOS and Android) and can be accessed 24/7.

Our first round of classes went really well, I’ll add some testimonials and links below my signature at the bottom. We learned a lot and the next round is going to be even better. We want to make sure you get your money’s worth so we’ll do a 100% money back if for whatever reason you’re unsatisfied.

For organizations, we can also create custom classes in pretty much any computer-related field. We’ve already done this for Partnerpedia (Rails) and East Side Games (Unity 3d) locally.

As a young startup we're grateful for your feedback and thoughts. If you have any questions at all please don’t hesistate to contact me.

Looking forward to a great 2012 full of learning!

“The tutorial was used as the primary reference material for the Matygo course Rails for Beginners. I don’t think I could have gotten very far in the tutorial without the clarification provided by the Matygo teacher. “
