Advanced JS with John Resig

John Resig, the JavaScript legend, will be in Vancouver for a very special VanJS. John is the author of the insanely popular jQuery library, along with many other frameworks such as Sizzle, Processing.js, and Dromaeo. He's also the author of the book Pro JavaScript Techniques. It's unusual to have VanJS on a Saturday afternoon, but that's when he's here so that's when we're listening. When put to a vote, the VanJS community chose this as the topic:
Learning Advanced JavaScript This talk will delve into the advanced features of the JavaScript language used to create complex applications. This talk will look at the functional programming aspects of JavaScript, prototypal inheritance, dynamic function calls, and closures - giving you a complete picture of the advanced nature of the language. This will be a very code-heavy talk with lots of examples, tutorials, quizzes, and practical code that you can begin using in your applications, today. It is highly recommended that you bring a laptop so that you can actively participate.. It will cover topics like scope, this, call, apply, and arguments. You can see the slides here:
http://ejohn.org/apps... We're at Harbour Centre again thanks to Joyent, this time in room 1700. See you on Saturday at 1pm!

Excellent talk, great materials, pointed out lots of obscure JS workings I was unaware of. The time slot (Sat @ 1pm) worked out much better for me, as getting downtown during the week can be more difficult. John is the man. I wanted to ask for a hug, but couldn't build up the courage ;)

John was great! The Q&A after the workshop was my favorite part. It was very interesting to hear what JQuery is currently working on and to learn more about JQuery and mobile devices. Thanks to all who were involved for organizing such a great event!

I wish there was a rating higher than 5 stars. John's talk was very insightful, well delivered, and was at the perfect skill level for my intermediate JS experience. Thanks to John, Allen, and Joyent!
