Burke Mtn. Coquitlam BC. - Advanced, quick paced ride.

I will meet at 9am at the hair pin; anyone wanting to climb the extra bit i'll wait until 1/4 after 9. We'll climb up to the white gate to meet everyone else for 9:30am.

The plan is to climb up to Upper Slayer, hike-a-bike to the top of the old skitter road which is now a nicely built jump trail. As you hike up you'll see the built up jumps - good for people wishing to transition into larger jumps.

Start by hitting the jumps - slayer - Brapp (another nice mini jump trail) - "no name trail"(i cannot recall the name - it's an XC trail) that leads to the hair pin turn. Others may want to ride out on the road back to their cars if parked near the gun club.

Bring appropriate armor and gear as this will be fast and jumpy! :)

I'm keen to have a look around Burke mountain. I've been up twice but I'm really not sure where the best trails are. So if anyone is keen to play tour guide somewhere up there tomorrow I would be super keen to ride up there

Wow, sorry guys I did not know this would be such an issue. 1st. this ride is a climb, never mentioned anything about shuttling so don't know where that came from. 2nd. I have hiked the jump trail several times over the last few weeks free of any problems . I've had to hike the trail as there is no choice, the top entrance is still there but a log jam in the power line area is blocking the trail. I understand the concerns here and have led several DH rides in the past in similar situations but I will adhere to this groups regulations and pull the ride. I will make sure any other rides I coordinate in the future do not include any risks.

The request not to hike up GOC came from the trail builders for valid safety reasons. GOC can be accessed from Elevator or the back road up to the bottom of Triple. Go ps

Go past triple and elevator. Lower GOC starts near the hydro tower at the end of that road.

The section about the jump trail is being pulled and one of the other organizers will take over this ride. Have fun everyone.

Agreed we shouldn't be hiking up dedicated DH trails that are intended for one way traffic. Its not necessary since that trail is easily accessed from the road if there isn't too much snow.

I don't like shuttling, I always prefer to climb but to each his own. Funny how a 50k commute round trip 4 days a week puts the fun back in climbing.

How riders get to the top doesn't change how riding down the trails affects them. I do like the all rider level inclusive approach to the work being done on the Burke trails. Thanks to Jon and Len for that great work. Let us know if you need help.

Hey guys. Let's not make this a debate forum for whether you should shuttle Burke or not. The fact is snowmobilers do it all the time as well as ATVs and mountain bikers. Trails will not be damaged due to a person shuttling up. If you are against shuttling on Burke then just don't do it.

As far as hiking up a jump trail, please don't do that. No organized Meetup through here should have in it's plans to go up a trail that is not intended to be ridden up. If anyone suggests this or does it they are putting people at risk and that should be reported to myself or Dave so it can be dealt with. This group is for fellow mountain bikers to get together to ride bikes in a fun and safe manner.

    Hello all,

I new to this site but not new to mountain biking, been around forever, Ive met a number of you either on Burke or Eagle at some point over the last few years. Just wanted to say hiking up a high speed downhill jumpline is not the safest or smartest thing to do. This will only put yourselves and the riders coming down at risk of injury and or cause the riders coming down to suddenly stop killing their flow. There are many areas on the trail where rider cant see you as your standing on the transition lifting your bike up and over a jump. This is only a recipe for disaster so please consider hiking to the top of the trail from the gravel road. We have this problem on Randy's as well but is more of a hiker/off leash dog thing and never ends well if there is a collision or near miss.

    Please...

Why, are you going to shuttle to the top of Slayer? The snow is still very low. Please don't abuse the fact that you have a key and shuttle in this provincial park. If I see any vehicle up there that shouldn't the RCMP will have a picture of said vehicle. The trails here are not trashed partly due to the fact that you cant shuttle. Earn your turns like everyone else please.
