Q: Who in their right minds would ride a trail named "Executioner" at night?

A: Charles and five others looking for a ton of fun and adventure, that's who.

Looking forward to the next one. Thanks Charles

It can take at least an hour or 1:20, to climb to 7th if you're slow and on a bigger bike. Snow makes it all a lot slower, if it is still on the road. It can be around 50 minutes for fit types on lighter bikes. If you haven't been following Charles around all winter, and don't ride much off-season, it will be a bit of a pain. It's always a pain for me. :-D

I'd suggest that doing 7th in the dark, as a first ride of the year, is rather adventurous/suicidal if you don't know the trail and aren't familiar with classic North Shore trails and their required skills. You'd also want some pretty good lights, not a single magic shine. 7th comes out at the 5th switchback, a bit above Pipeline, and below expresso. You can continue down many different trails from the end of 7th. So the final destination may be the bottom of griffen, or the bottom of bobsled, or even off over on Dempsey if you head down pipeline etc.
It would all depend on on what killer loop Charles has in mind. :-)

how long is the ride up, with a slow climber like myself? What trail do you endup on just so I know where to park.

This is a more advanced ride and its in the dark. Unless you know the trail well, I would suggest you come to the Thursday session.

    HI Charles
    how difficult is that ride?
it would be my first ride of the season, do you think is ok to start or should I wait until thursday for knew trails?
I just bought a pretty basic bike (yukon fx 10 cm travel front and back)

i rode executioner at 6th switchback last monday. had to walk a bit due to snow on the road, the trail was in great shape, a bit of snow at the start, then it got nice and dry. sounds like 7th secret is rideable but still snowy. and it's all getting better by the day. :)
