Fromme - Begintermediate

  • September 11, 2013 · 6:30 PM
  • Fromme - Second Gate

September is here! This month we'll switch between SFU and Fromme.

You will need lights* for this ride - they are now COMPULSORY!

Riding level: Begintermediate*

This week's ride will be on the lower trails on Fromme!

We'll meet at the second gate (by the washrooms/water tower) then head up and ride Bobsled, Floppy Bunny, others... followed by King of the Shore or Natural High and then out on Lower Griffen.

If you have questions - send me a message or post a comment.

*Bike Lights should be 500 lumens or higher.

*Begintermediates

  • You’ve been mountain biking for at least one year or have decent general riding skills and good fitness.
  • You're capable of controlling bike speed and direction on moderate (green and blue) single-track.
  • You can handle terrain that is slightly technical, with smaller rocks,  roots,  and some drops. You may get off your bike and walk when the terrain gets technical.
  • You can climb on single-track as long as it is not too technical.

What a spectacular night for a ride! Weather and trails were awesome... Great group - lots of new people and some of the regular Wed night gang as well...those not suffering the "Back to School" colds. Here is the GPS track for those in my group:

We did Bobsled, Floppy Bunny, then Roadside Attraction, King of the Shore & Lower Griffen.

My light arrived! So as long as Kellen doesn't get called into work, a riding will we go. For those interested I ordered this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/261267898059?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Arrived in 10 days. Seems like great quality. Came made for a european outlet but that can be remedied. Great deal overall!

    September 10, 2013

    • Paul

Curious to see how your light is. I got the side by side smaller light. Works really good.

      September 11, 2013

    • Angela

Hmm. That's funny. It did come with the battery pack and everything seems to work great, except the charger is made for European outlets which isn't what the picture shows.

      September 11, 2013

  • Kellen Joel K.

Would a 600 lumen light work? It should I go for a brighter setup?

    September 10, 2013

    • Kellen Joel K.

      *or

      September 10, 2013

    • Jeff B

The more lumens the better. 600 would be okay for slower paced riding. It is best to have a light on your helmet and one on your bar. That way you can see where you are and where you wanna go.

  • Ondra

I'll probably skip this one, take a day off and try some trails on Sumas mtn. Will join next time (need to get some proper lights), if anyone interested in riding Sumas, let me know!

For anyone wanting a fancy light for less than retail, there is a new Light & Motion Seca 1700 Bike Race Light on Craig's List for $260. I considered it before I managed to fix my old light.

The bike is making strange noises. See you next week!

    September 9, 2013

    • Richard

      It's saying "ride me..."

      3 · September 9, 2013

    • Fiona

It's saying "replace my brake pads". :) (No, that's not what the noise is. I can just see that the pads are worn)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
