2199 - 148 Street, Surrey, BC
Riding level: Begintermediate*
You will need bike lights that are 500 lumens or higher for this ride - they are COMPULSORY!
We will do a lap or two of BLT: a fun, flowy, turny, smooth singletrack trail that encircles the forest. Then we can step it up and do a lap of Junk Yard Dog: a blue trail that intertwines the different areas of the park and contains some technical features such as log rolls and small drops. It contains roots and a couple optional wooden structures. The park is on a gentle slope and so there is nothing steep but is always going up and down so you definitely get a workout.
We will meet in the parking area by the water tower/tennis courts/dirt jumps. To get there from southbound 148th Street, turn right into the Softball City/Bike Park entrance (south of 24th Ave). Take your second left into the parking lot, then head to the right looking for the water tower and people on bikes. If you are running late, are lost or have a last minute change of plans, I can be reached at [masked].
Weather plan: I will ride in case of drizzle but not in a monsoon. Will make a call at 4pm on the day of the ride and post here if cancelled.
You’ve been mountain biking for at least one year or have decent general riding skills and good fitness.
You're capable of controlling bike speed and direction on moderate (green and blue) single-track.
You can handle terrain that is slightly technical, with smaller rocks, roots, and some drops. You may get off your bike and walk when the terrain gets technical.
You can climb on single-track as long as it is not too technical.
