  • Well fall has arrived - and it's the best time for riding, and yes - lights at night will be needed! And yes, we are riding in the rain. :)

We might be switching between Fromme and Seymour, but first rides will be at Fromme for sure.

    Riding level: Begintermediate*

We'll meet at the second gate (by the washrooms/water tower) then head up and ride Bobsled, Floppy Bunny, others... followed by King of the Shore or Natural High and then out on Lower Griffen.

If you have questions - send me a message or post a comment.

If you are running late send text/call me @[masked]

You’ve been mountain biking for at least one year or have decent general riding skills and good fitness.
You're capable of controlling bike speed and direction on moderate (green and blue) single-track.
You can handle terrain that is slightly technical, with smaller rocks, roots, and some drops. You may get off your bike and walk when the terrain gets technical.
You can climb on single-track as long as it is not too technical.

Couple of quick questions as have just moved to Van from the UK and haven't had chance to explore the local trails yet.

Just checking how my setup form the UK will compare to what others will be riding. I have an AM/XC bike (Specialised Camber) which I have taken down plenty of blacks / double blacks.
Good helmet but not full face.
    SPD pedals.

Do the trials have much air or high shore style (elevated trails)?

Hi Stu, your bike should be fine for the North Shore. I know only the lower (i.e. easier) trails at Mt Fromme and if I had to I could ride my XC with no problem though I prefer my AM.

SPD versus flat pedals are a personal preference on the North Shore. If you're already fine riding MTB clipped in then you should be ok. I like to avoid SPD on even the easiest MTB rides though for non-MTB I like being clipped in.

The lower Mt Fromme trails have a few low-to-the-ground ladder bridges. The upper Fromme trails are more advanced. You can see YouTube videos, just look for Mt Fromme trails like Ladies Only (among others).

The other North Shore hills like Mt Seymour and Cypress Mountain, which are geographically east and west of Fromme respectively, offer their own specifics. Seymour's CBC trail is well known (I survived it twice) but I don't know anything at Cypress.

As Murray mentioned your bike should be fine. I have found Fromme to be quite technical (upper trails), but not a lot of that is elevated. I personally don't like elevated stuff. Also you don't have to ride everything if you are not comfortable. Most lower trails will not even require full suspension.

Date, time, place is correct - I would like to edit some other info of this event, but it looks like I either don't have enough permission or I don't know how to do it... I would like to set max attendants and recurrence of event.
