Taco Tuesdays Revived!

  • Dec 3, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • Samz Pub

Samz Pub in Poco still has 1.00 Taco Tuesdays after 5 pm and this used to be one of our most popular night rides so let's get it going again!

The go to for this ride has been Burke and Burke will be a regular destination. We will however make this ride more accessible to everyone by doing some casual weeks with various loops on the Poco Trail, Coquitlam River Trail, Colony Farm and Riverview Forest Trails.

Some of these trails are multi use and much more open than the forest trails so a highend off road light system won't always be required. Good quality commuter lights will work and they will be supplemented by those who do have more powerful light systems.

These rides will be casual and great for beginners and begin-termediates most of the time and occasionally they will be more advanced if we head up Burke. As always the skill level, fitness level and pace will be included in the description each week.

We usually ride rain or shine except when its really wet or windy and crappy. Those calls are made the day of the ride so always check to see if we are riding before you leave. On the nights weather cancels the ride we could still go to Samz for the tacos and we'll let you know if that's the case.

This ride is currently repeating for the first Monday of each month. Members are encouraged to post this ride on the off weeks and if folks want to be regular hosts we can make this a weekly repeating ride.

See you out there!

Frosty Fun. Those log stacks were sliiiikery! We just missed hot chocolate with the boy scout hiking group at Crystal Falls by about 10 minutes. Then on the way back things got interesting when the cheap chinese cells in my rebuilt battery pack died a third of the way back. Good thing I had my 5 led BLT commuter light on the 29r. If you don't have a spare bike on the ride like I did always take at least one back up light to get out of the woods in case your primary light leaves you in the dark... and cold. Luckily I was with the group too.

I will need to get some decent lights but I would love to join. Do I need anything else other than lights for this ride? Let me know thanks!

MEC has light and motion at good prices. My L&M set has been beaten for 5 years and still great. I did have the battery rebuilt with cheap chinese cells with alegedly 3x the capacity but actually maybe half the burn time. You get what you pay for with cheap chinese lights. Otherwise bring helmet appropriate riding gear and a change of clothes for the tacos. You dont want to miss the tacos!

I think this will be perfect for me, I had a carpal tunnel surgery a couple of months ago so an easier trail would be great to get back into riding :-)

Should we plan for the CRT again? Also any start time is ok for me though 7 pm might make it easier for others to attend.
