The 2nd Annual 'Stanley Park' Christmas Shenanigans!

Party Attitude Required!

We will bus/train/walk up to and through the [venue to be decided]  to enjoy an array of hidden Beers. Our pace will allow the slowest imbiber to keep up, with regular bathroom stops and a 'designated sober person' to prevent people becoming 'lost'.

This is a fun group party, not a ride, however we will offer assistance as we can to ensure the best possible experience for everyone attending.

** Remember your appetites, for this post-season refuel! **

Details: Duration: < 2hrs for food - bar open til 3am!!. Weather: Tropical to Monsoon/Blizzard. For inclement days we advise suitable clothing and/or an umbrella.  Meet at 7:00pm at the bar area to the left of the welcome desk. Look for Dallas on a mission to have fun and Gary on his backside (if you get there after I've had too many beers). We'll be looking to get the food started at 7:30pm (booked in the restaurant section to the right of the welcome desk)!

Terrain: The tables themselves are not steep but they do have technical elements that require some skill (beers, plates, rolls, cutlery, etc). These are 'proper' tables, not just the large logs used during the 3rd Beach BBQs.

Suitability: Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced AM (all-menu). This is ideal for riders who would like to try not riding at night. A good fun level is required as there is a fair amount of socializing.  All beers have a drink-around or can be swapped for a non-alcoholic beverage.

Equipment: All equipment will be provided at the venue!!!

(A grumpy demeanour will be insufficient.)

Please don't put us in the position of having to tell attendees they cannot join the ride for their own safety. We will be strict about Suitability and Equipment.

Restrictions: All drinkers MUST be 19+ years old. No Pets! (Health regulations forbid it in restaurants, with a hefty penalty for failure to comply).

What a great group we are lucky to have as Stanley Parkees! Good venue, very drinkable beer (too drinkable?), tasty food, reasonable prices, a Canucks 4-0 win on the big screen and we only left when closing time jumped out on us (3AM!!).
All of the above, however, would not have worked without the wonderful, fun-loving and friendly group we had join in the festivities. A special mention for Fiona for getting there early to grab some table space and Tina & Joe for making it at 1am despite their work party that night!!
And to Manna for our special Chris-mooses! >P^)
Thanks everyone and a Merry Christmas to you all.

I'm at the Charles and I've staked a claim on a table once its current occupants clear off.

Look for a middle-aged woman, sitting alone in a bar, compulsively checking her cell phone. :)

ok... I need some input from anyone in the know...

    The Hub (yaletown)
    Raw Canvas (yaletown)
    The Revel Room (gastown)
    The Refinery (granville)

I'm leaning strongly to The Revel Room, it's central to pubs and bars to continue festivities if we so choose. Second would be Raw Canvas, we'd get to paint! Hub and Refinery are restaurants... Been to the hub, it's nice. Never been to the Refinery.

Open to other suggestions! Looking for something casual, fun, good energy/crowd.

I'm thinking more like shorty shorts and half a top is the equipment needed, don't forget the cowboy hat

While I might have the legs to get away with shorty shorts (maybe not) I definitely do not have the midriff to get away with a short top... it may well put people off their drinks!

Will hopefully be getting there earlier (I know, a rare occurrence) so will try and grab a table. That really makes me sound like an old git who couldn't stand up for a couple of hours...

I'll aim to be there a little earlier, too... mostly because the sooner I have a drink in hand, the better! TGIF!!!

Won't be able to make it. Have fun!!

  • Dallas

If anyone is able to get there before the game starts (6pm) that'd be awesome!!!
You'll have to bring your boxing gloves to fight for the empty table though....

We will have availability issues everywhere. Christmas season with a canucks game on. So let's start here, and go from there!

Just so everyone knows, this ride is primarily for the SP posse but +1s are welcome too!
Also those who didn't manage to get to join us this (or any) year and who'd like to check out the nutters who do the ride in a 'safe' environment with lots of people around (not alone in the woods with them!) are welcome, as well.

I'm good to go with the Revel Room as long as they do some reasonable food. We probably won't be a huge group so a pub venue will work fine. It's not far to Skytrain and Canada Line trains, lots of buses from within a couple of blocks and walkable for West Enders/Downtowners. Plus easy from the Seabus for those from the North Shore.
