Lower SFU (Burnaby Mtn) - Beginner Ride

Welcome to a new season of mountain biking!

This is a Beginner* ride that will introduce you to single track trail riding. Each week in April will cover different mountain bike topics including:

1. Stance and Balance

2. Operations of Controls (gears, shifting, brakes) and

3. Gravity Management

4. Cornering & Line Selection

This ride is more cross country riding than downhill at this stage (but there is a couple of downhill sections near the end of the ride). This ride stays on the Lower sections of SFU.

Route: We'll head up and then come down North Road, Dead Moped.

Depending on the group we'll decide whether to head all the way down North Road to Jim's Jungle and back up to Lower Snake to finish.

*Beginner

You have limited experience with trail riding on a mountain biking.

You have reasonably decent general riding skills and good fitness.

You have done some road riding.

Love seeing big smiles at the end of a ride. Thinking everyone seemed to get a chance to do at least one new thing today - well done!

Just a heads up - we're going to combine this week's and next week's topics - they actually fit together as you'll see tomorrow. :-) So we'll be covering Operations of Controls (gears, shifting, brakes) and Gravity Management.

What happen to the Begintermediate rides?
If you rode with me last year you'll see that I have started posting Intermediate rides. I'm setting my rides between Beginner and Intermediate. Beginner rides will be more instructional this year; Intermediates more riding. Nevertheless everyone is welcome!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
