FIRST AID LEVEL 1 / TRAIL SIDE FIRST AID COURSE

There seems to be quite a number of people interested in a First Aid/Trail Side First Aid Course.
I did some research and came up with a great program (and instructor) for us.

Here are the details:

This is a two part course starting with the basics of first aid then getting into the more specific topic of mountain rescue (dealing with actual mountain bike incidents).

1) In order to take the Trail Side First Aid course you must first be the holder of an Occupational First Aid Certificate (referred to as?OFA?) (any level 1, 2 or 3). This gives you the basic first aid knowledge. This first course will teach you the?ABC?s? (Airway, Breathing, and Circulation) and ?CPR? as well as small wound dressing. Once you hold an ?OFA? certificate you can take part two of the program. The ?OFA? program is an 8 hour day course with a cost of $85.00 and is a BC wide recognized certificate.

2) The second part of the program is referred to as Trail Side First Aid. This part deals more specifically with mountain bike type accidents requiring first aid evaluation and treatment. We will learn how to evaluate, treat and prepare the injured rider for either of the first responders (Fire Fighters or Search and Rescue) to take over and transport. In some cases we will be responsible for the transport of our patient (if something like a broken arm or hand). The Trailside course is 7 hours and $55.00, however this is not recognized (the full recognized course is worth $500.00).

If you are the current holder of an ?OFA? certificate then you are not required to take part one but must bring the certificate to participate in part two.

As this is a two day program (because some people don?t hold an ?OFA? ticket) we will need to set this up on the weekend. The location will be in Maple ridge (address to follow) at the instructor?s first aid training center. The date will be set in September once we know who is serious in taking this program.

PLEASE REPLY TO MY EMAIL ONLY IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AND ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR THE PROGRAM UP FRONT (MONEY DUE SEPTEMBER 01/2010).

Cost: Occupational First Aid Level 1 $85.00 (If needed)
Trail Side First Aid $55.00

Once we know who is serious (I need a commitment) we will provide a weekend date in late September
