Do people look up to you, in more ways that one? Do you stand a head and shoulders above the rest? Does the thought of clothes shopping make you cringe? Then Vancouver Tall Club is the place for you!
What is the Vancouver Tall Club?
VTC was started back in 2007 by Danielle Anderson, who had enough of people asking if she played basketball. It's a social club for people who are taller than your average Vancouverite, and is intended to provide a range of social activities where members can finally get away from the "you're so tall" comments and hang out with people closer to their own size.
What are the height requirements?
Men must be at least 6'2"/188 cm and women must be at least 5'10"/178 cm to join.
What kind of events do you have?
As a regular, monthly event we hold a pub night downtown on the first Wednesday of every month. We also run many different kinds of one-off activites, from snowshoeing to museum visits and everything in between. Have an idea of your own? Not seeing an event you'd like? Members are highly encouraged to run their own events! Just post a suggestion and/or contact one of the organizers and we'll help you set it up.
What do I have to do to join?
Simply create a free meetup account, send a request to join. That's it! Do make sure to include your height in your request as we will not approve you otherwise.
There are two criteria for membership: you must be 19 years of age or older, and meet or exceed the above height requirements. (As we are serious about these threshholds, your profile will display "Probationary member" until we've met you and confirmed both criteria are met.)
How much does it cost?
There are no monthly or yearly fees for meetup, but all events are pay-your-own-way (though not all events cost money to attend). While joining is free, there are costs associated with running the group such as maintaining the meetup website. To off-set these, please consider a suggested donation of $10 per year.
