Yoga Gandha-The yoga of scent.

Gandha is sanskrit for fragrance and the aromatic substances – seeds, woods, herbs, plants, flowers, roots, and resins. These aromatic plant medicines assist in quieting the mind for the higher purposes of yoga and meditation by pacifying the thinking front part of the brain and connecting with the limbic system- the back part of the brain.

With the exception of the sense of smell, all of our senses pass through the front brain. Scent directly accesses the primal brain – so we can quiet the mind and attune our awareness to Spirit.

Join Ayurvedic Practitioner Glynnis Osher for an exploration into this aromatic Ayurvedic science and art of aromatherapy for sacred practice. We will explore and experience sacred woods, resins and essential oils for meditation and healing.

A lovely evening. Glynnis spoiled us all with scent, ayurvedic wisdom and bliss balls! She has shifted my orientation to scent for sure. In spite of some basic knowledge, I still tended to think of using scent as a bit of an indulgence, but Glynnis encouraged me to regard it as potent medicine for body, mind, and spirit. I loved hearing about the different plants and trees and how these magic potions are concocted. I have a new respect for the power of scent!

The Yoga Gandha ceremony was exquisite! We opened our minds (and our nasal passages) to the yoga of scent. We experienced the sensations of resins, essential oils, and burning sacred wood in ceremony and meditation. A room full of kindred spirits and a little dab of Glynnis' luscious Love Potion (self-love that is…) is all a girl really needs! (oh, and throw in one of Glynnis' signature bliss balls - and it feels like heaven). Thank you Glynnis for creating a perfectly scentsational evening!
