North Shore Canada Day Parade (map)
If you've ever wanted to march in a parade or have a cool sci-fi costume you'd like to show off (that can be worn in public;) this is your opportunity. We've had a number of BSG costume friendly events so we could make some representation. It's 2 months away so there's time to put something new together.
This is not a BSG or Meetup specific event, it will be posted on some of the other Meetups & groups. As many of us are involved in more than one group, this time it would be useful to RSVP to the group you're planning to wear a costume from (if applicable) to get an estimate of the number for the entry form.
It's not a sci-fi specific parade but Biff and some other clubs and associations have been participating in the parade for a few years as a venue to raise awareness of fandom and the fan clubs of greater Vancouver.
The ongoing discussion for all the groups is at:

The event begins with breakfast being served at 8:00am on Grand Boulevard Park at 14th Street with proceeds going to a local charity.
The parade begins at 10:00 at 13th Street & Grand Boulevard and proceeds down 13th Street to Lonsdale, turning north on Lonsdale. At 17th Street the parade again heads west where it will end at Mahon Park.
Although I do have an off duty viper pilot outfit (available to be borrowed). I could not resist the force of another fandom and will be Princess Leia. I also have a couple Darth Maul masks.
There is a parade planning meeting going on at BIFF this Friday, June 19th, 6:30pm at Eighties restaurant in North Vancouver (Lonsdale and 14th). It looks like Michael's viper mechanic uniform is also available to be borrowed. I'll be bringing a classic Star Trek shirt for lending.
Looks like we'll have a Stargate float in our group. How cool is that?!
Still looking for volunteers for the July 4th parade in Point Roberts. Contact me if you are interested.
For many more photos, check out the Firefly, Stargate and Star Trek Vancouver meetup groups. Thanks to everyone who took part. It was great to see such a turnout.

Even if you don't have a costume, you can still participate. We will be making up brochures to advertise the local science-fiction clubs, and will need people to walk along the edge of the crowd and hand them out. If anyone has an idea for a vehicle/float BSG thingamajig, let me know...
