This Saturday, April 26, we've got a special event planned as part of the newly launched STAGE to SCREEN series, which brings to Vancouver some of the greatest talents working in film and theatre for a unique one-of-a-kind experience.
Our first guest, from New York City, is Pulitzer and Tony Award winning playwright, screenwriter, and director, DAVID AUBURN, best known for his play “Proof," which he also adapted into a movie starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Anthony Hopkins, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
No stranger to film, Auburn had apprenticed at Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment at the start of his career. He has written the screenplay for THE LAKE HOUSE (Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, Christopher Plummer) and made his directorial debut with THE GIRL IN THE PARK (starring Sigourney Weaver, Kate Bosworth & Keri Russell), which he also wrote.
The event, which starts at 3pm, includes a film screening of "The Girl in the Park," Q&A, live play reading of "Proof" with some of Vancouver's top actors, an In Conversation with David Auburn, and private Reception! All for just $47 - a steal. Members of this MeetUp can use promo code S2SRANDOM for a $5 discount.
It's a packed day (with dinner break in-between), but should be a unique opportunity to meet other film/theatre lovers and to hear from an incredible talent.
The idea behind STAGE to SCREEN not only to bring Masters of their craft to Vancouver, but to also open a dialogue and inspire Vancouver’s own creative community. Tickets and more information available at: http://www.viff.org/theatre/films/fc8116-stage-to-screen-in-conversation-with-david-auburn
