Movies at La Fontana: Irresponsible Captian Tyler & Whichever else

Another Day, Another meetup at La Fontana.

In case any of you missed it, La Fontana is a Italian Food restaurant which conveniently also has a movie theater.  You get served great food while watching your favorite anime.

The featured anime for this meetup is Irresponsible Captain Tyler, a space opera comedy. I have both the base and OAV box sets which I've been meaning to use for quite a while. I showed two episodes of it last meetup and it got well received. We'll likely start off at episode 3 unless peeps want to start from the start again.

We can also do other animes as long as they are on DVD and aren't overly violent.

We set the meetup time an hour later at 5pm so we'll have about 3 hours of meetup time before they boot us out of the restaurant.

Those driving can find parking along Esmond Ave a short distance from La Fontana.  Those taking bus can get there by catch the #130 from Metrotown station and stop close in front.

We'll meet inside the restaurant and hope to get things started as soon a possible.

If anyone is going to be late then please call or txt me at[masked]

Description Over.  Now for the news:

I recently reappointed Akemi as a Meetup organizer who I've requested share her Japanese Movie meetup, Anime Related meetups and Anime Meetups. She runs all of her meetups through La Fontana too. So also cross posts her meetups so there will likely be large turnouts.

Due to some of our members being sensitive to particularly violent animes, I've decided to start hosting anime at the Library again. We will have the extra bit of privacy there that we wouldn't have at La Fontana. I've been long sitting on doing Berserk but have had to hold back on it due it's violent content.

I'll also be looking to do mid-week meetups for people who can't make weekend meetups. Likely they will be social meetups unless they get good turnouts.  Good turnouts means we could do Mid-week anime watching at La Fontana.

Also, again, I encourage people to try and host their own meetups.

I'm STILL holding off doing meetups at my place being at it is still a disaster area not fit for humans.

Well thats too bad. We almost had a good sized group. Well at least there was four of us so it was still all good. Although I would appreciate people not bailing out 3 hour prior to the event. We had 3 of those today and I felt that to be greatly inconsiderate especially for a restaurant meetup like this. At any rate, we ended up not watching Caytian tyler but Astroboy instead. It was actually cute, entertaining and nostalgic as I hadn't seen it on TV for over 15 years. We saw the birth of Astroboy who was designed after the creators son who was killed in a car accident. Rather sad start to the story. We saw about 4 epsides before we left. Thanks to Corey for bringing the DVD's and Justin for giving me the rides. Apparently, we won't have another Fontana meetup till July so it's going to be a while. Anime Revolution is next month anyways so we'll be pretty busy during that time anyways.
