I've updated this Meetup - just removed the food charge as we will bring our own food. For more details, see the full listing:
When: Saturday, September 17,[masked]:00 PM
Where: Kits Beach
1305 Arbutus Street Vancouver
Vancouver, BC V6J 5N2
We want to celebrate with you. We will be at Kits Saturday at about 1PM for 2s action for the hard core vballers and 2pm for 4s. Bring hibachi for you to bbq your grub for dinner. Anyone who has a net and ball please bring them just in case we need to setup more courts.
Many thanks in advance to Peter, Juhani, Kim Tasa, Jaimie and Steve for bringing the nets :) We would not be able to do this without you, guys...
Tomorrow we will once again congregate in Kits to enjoy one of the (arguably) most fabulous sports in Vancouver – beach volleyball.
This time, however, it will be extra special! We will also help our friend Clement celebrate his recently defended PHD in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Yes, we have a world-class specialist, a Doctor, no less, in bladder cancer research within our ranks!
The idea is to have the party low-key, low-effort way, as per Clement’s wish. The party will evolve organically, there is no formal organizer... only numerous friendly faces to welcome you there.
Other than volleyball, the magnificent surroundings of Kits beach, and social mixing, there will be three other main key components to that party:
* BBQ - The revision to the announcement is to make it a free event with a bring your own food to share request. So bring a BBQ if you have one (although there should be a few small ones there anyway), bring your own meat to BBQ as well
*Drinks – bring your own beverages of choice, consume responsibly and discreetly
*Music – bring your music-playing devices + tunes (boombox or…?)
Clement will be on hand to guide you to the exact location, if you need help, receive congratulations, hugs, gifts, massages, and whatever else your heart desires to express your admiration for his recent academic achievement.
He can be reached at[masked].
See you all there!
