June Vegan Potluck with Tess Challiss

Grand Rapids Vegan Potluck is the place where you can find the best plant-based cruelty free meals in the world. We meet every last Saturday of even month at D&W Fresh Market at Knapps Crossing. This month we have a special guest!! Tess Challis (author, vegan chef, wellness coach, and co-founder of Get Waisted) will be at our potluck on June 28th at 7 PM. She will talk about her 23 years as a vegan and show us how to create delicious, healthy snacks. She will be demonstrating her recipe for "Rawcho Cheese" (a nacho cheese dip you'd never guess was healthy, raw, and vegan!). She will also be available to answer questions and sign copies of her books. And bonus - her daughter (Alethea, Vegan Kid Chef) will be there to answer questions and offer tips as well!

Here is the reminder of our potluck rule.

1. Our potluck is always animal products or animal by-products free. That means no meats, no eggs, no dairy. Please check the ingredients carefully on the label if you use any pre-made ingredient.

2. Please bring your own serving utensil, plate, silverware if possible. I will always have some extra disposable plates and forks, yet bringing your own works the best. Save the Earth!!

3. Please bring the name of your dish and the recipe note. You can upload your recipe on "More" (It is located at main menu bar next to Discussion). There is a sub menu called "File" and you can save your recipe there. This way, anyone can download your recipe and try it at home. If you know the source, it would be plus to indicate where you get that recipe from.

4. Keep your RSVP accurate. If you can't make it or decide to come at last minute, please update your status online. This way, we know how many people will be at the potluck. Plus I can arrange seating properly :)

5. Please invite your non-vegan friends and family. It is always exciting to show Vegans and Vegetarians are not always eating salads everyday.

Tess just had a wonderful presentation at Harvest Health in Hudsonville last night and lots of people were asking questions about her vegan cooking and so on. She spent extra hours to help people to clarify their questions.
She is one of the most inspiring vegan chefs and authors and you will be thrilled to meet her in person. See you tomorrow guys!!

Kim, Thanks for all your work putting these together. We have a big bash to attend Saturday, David Doyle turns 70 and there's a celebration at Yesterdog. It will be a great party but your meal will far surpass mine that night! How many people have been attending? We would like to consider hosting the July date, unless you find that D&W works best for everyone. Thanks for keeping us in the circle! Susan

Hi Susan, there will be another chance. In July we are doing a vegan picnic with other veg organizations in the area. If you want to host a potluck, please set up any date which works for you and we will post on the site!!!
