STOP THE LIVESTOCK BOARD BILL & STAY FOR LUNCH
This is our chance to stand united for farm animal protection in Massachusetts.
The Agricultural Committee is having a public hearing on June 3rd and we need you to be a voice for animals! Join HSUS, MSPCA, ASPCA, COK, Farm Sanctuary, MFA and many others. Come for the animals and have lunch with us afterward!
The purpose of a public hearing is to learn where the public stands on an issue – let’s make sure the committee knows we oppose H753, the Livestock Board bill! You do not need to say anything to register your opposition to the bill. Please join us whether or not you would like to testify. Your presence is enough.
INFO ABOUT THE BILL:
A Farm Bureau poll found that 95% of Americans believe farm animals deserve humane treatment. Now, the Farm Bureau wants to cut the public out when creating farm animal welfare standards. H. 753 would create a politically unaccountable board that can veto farm animal welfare regulations issued by the state. They don’t want the people to have a voice. What are they so afraid of? They are afraid the people will protect farm animals from cruelty! Let’s make sure they don’t stop us. Come to the hearing to say NO to this power grab!
The hearing is close to Worcester in Spencer, MA. We will have three car pools out of Boston. We will probably also have a car pool out of the Berkshires and Amherst. Please let us know if you would like a ride!
