I'm sorry to say that some things have come up so I won't be able to make the meetup this morning(Nov 11).
Also I have gotten behind on my email but if you are free today, it would be great if you could make this event in Hartford.

Subject: Change: Distributing PCRM ATLS Pig Lab Flyers at Hartford Hospital

Postponed until next Sunday ...

Hello friend to the animals,

Hope you are well. Wanted to tell you about our next event -

Sunday, November 18, 2012 12:00pm

We will start off with distributing flyers around the area of Hartford Hospital.
If there is a large enough turnout, we will have a demo (with signs) at Hartford Hospital as well.

If enough time & materials left, we will also distribute flyers at other locations around the area that look promising.

Afterwards we will share some vegan vittles & have a meeting at Whole Foods about future activities.

We will meet at 1:00 pm at Whole Foods Market in West Hartford Center (50 Raymond Rd, West Hartford, Connecticut 06119) and carpool from there due to limited parking at HH - we will be in the front seating area with pile of flyers next to us & a big silver/gray backpack.
if you can't join us until later, please call or text [masked] & we will let you know where to meet us, thanks :0)
about the issue ...
At Hartford Hospital, Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) training involves performing invasive surgical procedures on live pigs. Specifically, Hartford Hospital instructs each ATLS course participant to make an incision between a pig’s ribs, through which a tube is inserted into the animal’s chest cavity; insert a needle into the chest cavity; insert a needle into the abdominal cavity; and insert a needle under the breast bone and into the pericardium (the sac surrounding the heart). At this point, the pig is killed and course participants are instructed to make incisions in the animal’s throat, into which a tube is inserted.
Ninety-eight percent of ATLS courses in the United States and Canada use nonanimal methods for trauma training. Nonanimal training methods include the TraumaMan System, a realistic anatomical human body simulator that has lifelike human skin, subcutaneous fat, muscle, and blood vessels. TraumaMan is endorsed by the American College of Surgeons, the organization which oversees ATLS courses, and is widely used.
Hartford Hospital continues the inhumane practice of using live pigs to train physicians even though it owns the TraumaMan System in its very own Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation.
The hospital could stop the use of pigs immediately.
Please take action and tell Hartford Hospital president Jeffrey Flaks to end Hartford Hospital’s animal lab.
