Vegan Meal Planning Workshop!

Have you ever been confused about what vegan recipes to make or wanted to learn new tricks for storing your produce? If so, join Melissa Maaske, mentor through Vegan University, for this in depth vegan meal planning presentation. Melissa will give you tips on grocery shopping, discuss smoothies versus juicing, and give you a seven-day meal guide. We'll also discuss looking at vegan nutrition from a holistic perspective and come up with a comprehensive list of salads and sandwiches for on-the-go people. With help from Melissa, you can make empowered choices about what you eat!

If people are interested in swapping recipes, feel free to bring those with or start a thread on Minneapolis Vegan Meetup's discussion page.

    The presentation was terrific!! You were outstanding. Learned so much - motivational !! I checked out Daiya - was surprised to see that the products are full of saturated fat.

      Yes, their products do contain oil which will provide the fat you mentioned. However, the serving sizes listed on the package are often more than you may need to fulfill a craving. The good news is that their products have no cholesterol and are quite animal "cheese-like" compared to other vegan cheeses IMO. I would suggest substituting Nutritional Yeast whenever possible. Also, as you find yourself eating more all natural, plant-based foods, your tastes will change. Perhaps you will no longer want a cheesy meal more than occassionally!

    I will only be able to attend for 1/2 hour as I am attending a funeral after this gathering. Living in a small town in Wisconsin in a community lacking many vegans presents sadness for me, so I am grateful to join with others who are compassionate about the lifestyle choices they make. Am looking forward to future opportunities as well to get to know the vegan community in area.
