Tour of Chicken Run Rescue for PRE-Vegans!

Calling all pre-vegans!

Have you been thinking about going vegan but have been on the fence for a while? We have a very special opportunity for you and we hope it will help you get off the fence and take the plunge.

Chicken Run Rescue has generously agreed to allow us to come and tour their rescue facility and sanctuary, and to allow people to meet some of the hens who were previously being exploited for their eggs, ended up homeless because they were roosters and were deemed worthless by people who only wanted hens for egg-laying purposes, and birds who were being kept by people who intended to kill and eat them before they were rescued.

Having the opportunity to spend some time with these individuals and getting a chance to know them a little bit may be the inspiration you've been looking for to finally go vegan - all the way.

* There is limited room for this meetup and our meetup group is asking for donations from visitors to help with the costs of running the meetup and will be donating a portion of the donations to CRR so they can buy produce for the birds. No one will be turned away due to inability to pay, and the donation is a suggested amount, we always appreciate more, of course.

* Bringing friends and family who are not yet vegan is an option if you are already vegan, but we ask that you bring someone with you who is NOT so we can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to have the birds speak for themselves.

* Please bring treats and snacks for the birds! They enjoy fruit (especially melons!), cooked spaghetti, greens, raisins, cucumbers, cooked corn on the cob, rice, and whole wheat bread.

I enjoyed going to this rescue very much. We have chickens ourselves but are always interested in learning new and better techniques for caring for our animals. The chickens were great and the owners of the rescue were also very friendly and informative. Great tour!

This was a great experience. I loved holding the chickens and seeing their unique personalities. I definitely learned a lot about the perils of egg-laying as well. Thank you Dallas!

      That is horrible. :(

I agree. It's just not necessary to exploit the chickens. I don't care if those eggs are just sitting there 'going to waste'... no way I want to give anyone the idea that eggs are needed in any way by humans.

This sounds so great and is exactly what I have been thinking of doing recently. As an aspiring vegan I hope I can get a chance to do this another time since I will unfortunately be out of town this weekend :/

I'm already vegan, but I want to support these folks. If you can let me know where to send a donation (cash or food for the chicks [or both]), I'd love to be able to help out a little bit. Thanks!

This meetup is currently capped at 20 people, but if we get a very large wait list, there is a possibility of having a second tour on the same day. However, if you RSVP, please make sure to save that date in your calendar for this day and plan to be there - because there will be many people who really want to meet these amazing birds.
