Celebrate International Vegan Pizza Day!

Vegan Pizza Day is just around the corner and we have decided to celebrate with a Meetup! It will be at Galactic Pizza on Saturday, June 28th at 7:00 pm. Galactic has even offered to donate 25% of the tab to the Animal Rights Coalition! This will be a great opportunity to meet and reconnect with others throughout the Twin Cities and enjoy some delicious vegan pizza. See you there!

* Also, they do not take reservations so we will have to work with the tables they have open at that time and will most likely need to split up.

PLEASE READ NOTE:

* If you are willing to pitch in a couple of dollars to help cover the costs of running the Meetup, we would greatly appreciate it, but no one will be turned away due to inability to pay.

* Please also note that while everyone is welcome no matter where you are on your vegan journey, this is meant to be a fun pro-vegan social event. We're happy to answer questions about veganism and have discussions, but this is not the forum for debates or arguments about veganism. By attending we presume you are actively pursuing or seriously considering vegan living.

Is there a way to stop being a part of this discussion? It seems like we can all just let it go. If not, it would be great if this could be continued privately, rather than sent to all of us. Thanks!

Try clicking "Mute" on a few of the comments. My last comment was the night of the meetup.

For any other meeting, I am going to focus just only on the subject of veganism. If someone wants to talk about anything else, I will ask this person to set a time to meet after. Damian, it was wrong from the beginning to have your first comment about the discussion, which made everyone confused. This is my last comment here about this matter.

    Hi Everyone,

I wasn't at the meetup, but I just want to say that we strive for an inclusive atmosphere - and we want people to be able to come together to share ideas and experiences around being vegan. I don't know if this debate/discussion was tied to veganism in some way, but ultimately I trust my hosts to make a call about what is an isn't considered to be inclusive/appropriate. For those who are interested, there are meetups MANY meetups that do focus on religious and scientific inquiry as well as atheism and even debate. So, please, respect the intentions of our meetup and our community by being mindful about how your contribution may be impacting others' experiences.

We enjoyed ourselves. We weren't involved in your conversation. No one was offended. If you had a good time that's great. I'm just glad the table I sat at talked vegan and animal rights. :)

Yes, it was a good conversation. I was trying to get off the topic mainly cause I didn't want to have Tamer feel that we were pushing the topic.. I'm glad to hear that Tamer was cool with it, and certainly if we were at the table with others we'd have not continued but we were at our own table and it's what we found most interesting to discuss :)

I really do not know why a simple discussion for exchanging ideas could cause frustration. Well, I was not frustrated, it was okay.

If this discussion causes a problem, then a discussion with non-vegan about veganism will cause the same issue.

Yes, it takes more then the life of the earth for the two-step gene mutation to convert from being an Amoeba to human being.

    Hello Everyone,

It was so sad that I missed meeting all of the other people that were on the waiting list. However, it will be so nice to meet them at another time.

I thought we had a good discussion - rather than an argument - about the evolution theory, and I am not sure what has that to do with religion.

The difference between the argument and discussion, in argument the person wants to impose his idea upon others, but in discussion we just exchange thoughts and ideas.

During our discussion Damian's dad asked us to stop, and I stopped immediately, then Damian continued the talk about the subject, so I looked at Joe and he said said, "I am sorry, we can continue."

Had a rather fun and yet frustrating argument about religion with Tamer. I like arguing, but come on man, some rationality in your arguments would be nice, not just "we don't know, thus god dun dunnit".
I'll be at the PRIDE Festival/Parade tomorrow if you'd like to talk more: http://www.meetup.com/minnesota-atheists/events/185239642/

It's probably best no to discuss religion with people you don't know very well.

It clearly states in all of our descriptions that our meet up is not a place for debate. Thank you.

Great staff that accommodated our group the best they could in the small restaurant. The vegan strawberry cheesecake was SO good.

Well, I just found out I made it off the waiting list, bit I have already eaten and it's 8:00. In the future, I love the idea of taking it to a park. Maybe the park in front of the Minneapolis Art Institute?

    June 28

  • Tamer

Well, as I see there are about 24 people are still on the waiting list. Then, the question here is, why do not we order the pizza and then, all of us spend some good time in a park? There are a lot of nice parks around here, especially, it is nice and sunny outside:). Please let me know what you guys think.

    June 28

If this crappy weather clears up, that would be a great idea. (Or we could just flood the restaurant :P)
I was at the PRIDE Festival for the atheist booth, it was pretty bad at times.

      It's pouring out

With many people on the waiting list, it looks like I can't make it to this one ... would it be possible to have another vegan pizza night at the same restaurant? Or another restaurant close by? Maybe we can order take out food from a vegan restaurant and find a nearby park on a sunshiny Saturday.

    June 28

    • Melanie W.

Of course! We try to have vegan meet ups once weekly so keep an eye out on here. Sorry you can't make it.

Hello Everyone, well, it is my first time to meet people at a place I do not know. The question here is, how would I know you guys:)? The photos of the people are sometimes different from how they look:)

I am dying to find good vegan pizza! I miss pizza.

Psycho Suzi's had a good deep dish (I just got back from an atheist meetup there), but it was really expensive (I think it was $21). The Element also does a good pizza, it's thin crust and I find it better than Psycho Suzi's pizza, plus it's cheaper ($11+-4).

      June 25

    • Damian Pound (.

Doh, meant to do Shift+Enter... Anyway. If you don't mind making your own pizza, you should talk to my dad (Joe Pound), he's in the wait list right now.

Looking forward to meeting you all and seeing a few familiar faces! I will get there at 6:30 to see what the table situation is. I've never been there so it could be chaotic finding tables for 15 with no reservation. Let's have fun and eat pizza!!!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
