MN Animal Rights/Vegan Meetup

Everyone is welcome! This is meant to be a fun pro-vegan social event and attendees are reminded to only order vegan food, as we want to create a safe place for vegans to spend time together and be comfortable.

You’re in the grocery store with conventional bananas in your left hand and organic bananas in your right hand - which do you choose? Are you confused by the organic label? Is it healthier than conventionally grown produce? Safer? Better for the environment? What about for those who grew the bananas? The organic label is confusing and leaves many consumers questioning whether they are choosing the best option for themselves and their family or spending extra money just for the fancy label. Let’s end the confusion now.

Join Kelsey, who has a Bachelor's degree in Public Health and is certified in Plant-Based Nutrition from T. Colin Campbell's Center for Nutrition Studies, for an in-depth workshop explaining the ins and outs of organic farming. We’ll discuss the history of organics, the benefits and criticisms of the organic label, the environmental, social and health impact, our current food system, and organics place in the world today.

Everyone is welcome! You do not need to be vegan to attend ARC events. Feel free to bring questions and be prepared to take notes.

Join us for a peaceful protest against Four Paws and a Tail, on public property near Northtown Mall, 398 Northtown Drive NE, Blaine, Minnesota from Noon - 1:30PM.

Meet us at the intersection of County Road 10 and Jefferson, on the grassy area in front of Chipotle, under the large red Cub Foods sign. You can park in the Chipotle lot or the large lot near Chipotle. Signs are provided but you're welcome to bring your own!

We oppose Four Paws and a Tail's business model of buying companion animals from large-scale, commercial breeding facilities and selling them to the public. We also oppose the idea that because a breeding facility is USDA licensed, it is also ethical. With the holiday season upon us, it's especially important to spread our message!

Join us at our Tasty Tofu Cook-Off fundraiser event on Saturday May 11th, from noon until 2:00 PM at the Minnehaha Masonic Lodge #165 in Minneapolis! We’re bringing together 12 contestants to show just how delicious and versatile tofu can be. (To compete - see below.) For $1 per sample you can try as many dishes as you’d like and then cast a vote for your favorite. The event is first come, first served until the samples run out, so it's best to come early! We will also have 3 judges voting for their favorite dish.

The excitement doesn’t end there! We will have giveaways, an area to take photos with fun props, and a tofu carving contest. We will also have some items from our all-vegan shop, Ethique Nouveau, available for purchase.

Free beverages will be provided. We encourage you to bring a friend who has never tried tofu or someone who has claimed they don’t like tofu.

The proceeds from this event will benefit our animal advocacy work.

CALL FOR CONTESTANTS:
- We have 12 spots available
- Dish must be vegan (no eggs, dairy, honey, etc.)
- Dish must contain tofu, can be sweet or savory
- Recipe should be original and not published
- $25 fee to reserve spot and will be refunded the day of event (if this is an issue, please let us know)
- Quantity - it's recommended to make two full, 9"x13" pans or two full crockpots. Samples will be given in 1 oz. portions

Contestants will receive a $25 gift certificate for our all-vegan shop, Ethique Nouveau.
