For the month of June, we're offering a double-whammy with two events in one day! Each has been set up separate from the other to provide the option of selecting a single event, but we hope to see you at both!
Event #1: Tree House Humane Society Stray Cat Strut from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Please see the Vegan Chicago event page for details. If you're unable to participate in the walkathon, please consider making a donation on the Vegan Chicago team page.
After the “Strut”, we'll venture to Demera Ethiopian Restaurant (5 ½ blocks south of Tree House Humane Society) to indulge in a delicious Ethiopian meal consisting of the following, which will be served, sans utensils with injera (spongy flat bread), on a communal platter:
Ye-Shimbra Assa (spicy) - Ground chickpeas shaped into dough pieces and cooked in our special berbere sauce
Kik Alicha - Yellow split peas prepared with onion, garlic, ginger and turmeric
Shiro - Mixed legumes prepared with ginger root, rue seed, bishops weed and garlic and cooked with our Demera seasoning
Gomen - Chopped collard greens sautéed with onions, garlic and ginger and then lightly mixed with sliced and seeded jalapeños
Quosta - Chopped spinach sautéed with onions, garlic, ginger and Demera seasoning
Tikle Gomen - Cabbage and carrot cooked with onion, garlic and ginger and seasoned with seeded jalapeños
Ye-Dinich ena Carrot Alicha - Potatoes and carrots stewed with onions, garlic, ginger, tumeric and special Demera seasoning
This is a pre-pay event, and the $20 cost per person includes the meal, tax, tip, and Amazon fee.
