Brunch at Munch

  • March 1, 2014 · 9:30 AM

Greetings!

For the month of March, we'll be venturing to Oak Park for brunch at Munch!

Located in a neighborhood filled with fun and lively shops, Munch uses well-known and much-loved products from local companies Upton's Naturals and Chicago Vegan Foods (Dandies, Teese, Temptation), and its menu offers a variety of predominantly vegan fare. The full brunch-specific menu can be viewed here, and you'll find an assortment of breakfast delectables such as a tofu scramble, cornmeal pancakes, a breakfast burrito, coconut chocolate chip pancakes, combo plates, a variety of sides, and more.

Due to its small size, Munch has agreed to open a half hour earlier than normal to ensure seating for all Vegan Chicago members who RSVP. Since this is not a pre-pay event, please only RSVP if you know for certain you can attend. As the cap is firm, if you sign up and learn prior to the event that you cannot attend, I kindly ask that you update your RSVP in order to free up a spot for someone else.

As Munch is BYOB, if you prefer your brunch to be accompanied by champagne, a bloody mary, mimosa, beermosa, or any other alcoholic beverage, please feel free to bring such.

Munch accepts cash-only, and a cash machine is located within the restaurant with an associated charge of $1.00 per transaction.

Munch is within walking distance of the CTA Green Line Harlem/Lake station. For those driving, there's a parking lot located a few doors south of the restaurant (on North Boulevard), as well as street parking.

For those interested in taking a stroll after eating, some of the noteworthy nearby shops to visit are Penzey's Spices, Ten Thousand Villages, Pumpkin Moon, Paper Source and Scratch 'n Sniff.

Please consider joining us at Munch for Vegan Chicago's first-ever brunch event! Hope to see you there!

I do not know if you have a spot now! I meant I have a spot and I am going tomorrow. Sorry. I did not mean to confuse anyone.

I look forward to meeting you all at Munch tomorrow morning. Neither rain, nor hail, nor sleet or snow will stop me from my appointed brunch. See you tomorrow. Toby Fox

    Hi, Deb R,
Everything on the menu is Vegan. If someone is Vegetarian and would like cheese or sour cream, it is available for them. Hope this answers your question.

Hi Vegan Chicago ... it saddens me to tell you guys I am not going to make tonights Vegan on Tap. I been looking forward to it for over a month. I've been severely unemployed for 6 months, and I been giving an opportunity starting tonight. The worst part of it all its for a high volume pizzeria. Which goes against all my principles. Enjoy the night and be safe!

30 people. Is there enough room for everyone?

    February 19, 2014

Millie, Vegan Chicago has held events at Munch each year since it's been open, and the cap has always been established by the owner, Robbin, who is also a member of this group. Seating is assured for each guest. :-)

Hey! I have a question about the menu. I've not been to Munch before and didn't see a key on their menu, please clarify if possible: is VG vegan and VEG vegetarian? Thanks!

    February 18, 2014

    • Debra

Hi, Deb. You are correct. VG = vegan and VEG = vegetarian.

      February 18, 2014

  • Toby F.

I have been a grateful Vegan for three years. This is the first event I have been able to attend. I go to Munch as "munch" as I can. It is a wonderful treat for me. I look forward to meeting other compassionate people who put their veggies where there mouth is.

Will shakes be available to order during brunch?

    February 17, 2014

    • Debra

      Absolutely, Janna! :-)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
