June Book Discussion: Skinny Bitch

Join us for our June book discussion!  We'll be reading:

Skinny Bitch by Rory Freedman & Kim Barnouin (Amazon, GoodReads)

ABOUT THE BOOK:
"Not your typical boring diet book, this is a tart-tongued, no-holds-barred wakeup call to all women who want to be thin. With such blunt advice as, "Soda is liquid Satan" and "You are a total moron if you think the Atkins Diet will make you thin," it's a rallying cry for all savvy women to start eating healthy and looking radiant. Unlike standard diet books, it actually makes the reader laugh out loud with its truthful, smart-mouthed revelations. Behind all the attitude, however, there's solid guidance. Skinny Bitch espouses a healthful lifestyle that promotes whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, and encourages women to get excited about feeling "clean and pure and energized." ~

For anyone that missed the discussion, our friend Chelka who works at City Lit Books is hosting a monthly cookbook book club. The first two books are vegan and vegetarian and members are asked to prepare an item from the books to share as you discuss. More info can be found at the event page here: http://citylitbooks.com/event/2014/06/18/day

This was a great meetup for me. I appreciated hearing the perspectives of more learned vegans and about other books that have helped as well as entertained our community. Thanks to Mauricio for hosting and all the participants for a respectful dialogue. It was so exciting, I apologize if I cut anyone off or interrupted. Thank you so much to everyone who attended and shared their perspectives.

No need to apologize Deb, your enthusiasm was very welcome. Thanks for coming out and contributing?

Autumn from Delicious wanted to give everyone a heads up that Ribfest is taking place this weekend just north of the cafe. I'd recommend budgeting in a bit extra commute time in case parking or getting around the area is busier than usual.

Hey everyone, I'm so sorry I was not able to post the poll for our August discussion on time. As a result, the poll will remain open for an extra week to give everyone enough time to add their vote. Please place your votes here: http://www.meetup.com/vegan-chicago/polls/1084542/

Thanks and see you all next Sunday!
