Vegan Chicago is excited to offer you the third installment of our popular idea-challenging speaker series where we bring in the experts to speak on their area of study. This time we dip into our local pool of talent and bring you Dr. Kenneth Alexander* who is a nationally known pediatric infectious diseases clinician and researcher to speak on the subject of vaccines.
Whether you are young or old, with or without children, vaccines have a major influence upon your life and those around you. People often follow a vegan lifestyle to reduce suffering and vaccines can certainly have an impact on this goal. There's also some anti-vaccine baloney infecting the vegan community so we must immunize ourselves against this contagious junk information. Please join us and nourish your brain with healthy science-based information which Dr. Alexander will be generously providing. Bring questions!
The cost of this event is 100% free to our members and seating is limited. The entire event will be around 90 minutes and start promptly at 11am so please arrive early to get situated. Doors open at 10am.
*Dr. Alexander is Section Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Chicago. He attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where he earned his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. His research interests include transcription and replication control of human papillomaviruses, innate immune responses to papillomavirus infections, papillomavirus antiviral therapy, and promotion of HPV vaccination in medically underserved communities. Dr. Alexander has a wife and two young adult daughters.
If you're not planning on attending the event but would like to share some thoughts on the topic please limit your comments to this discussion thread:

I can't make this but, sounds interesting. And, vaccines are unethical for several reasons one includes the fact that chicken embryos, calves serum, and other animal by products are used in the production of making vaccines.
