New Year's Brunch Potluck

  • Jan 5, 2014 · 11:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Let's ring in the new year the cruelty-free way! Please bring your favorite vegan (no meat, eggs, milk, cheese or honey) brunch-y dish to share. Please state what you are bringing in your rsvp so we don't end up with 10 tofu scrambles and 15 different kinds of muffin.

The potluck will take place from 11:30 - 2:30 pm at Dianne's and Dennis's house in West Orange. If you know you are going to be late, please consider bringing a dessert. The address will be emailed to attendees a day or two beforehand. People with allergies should know that Dianne and Dennis have 3 cats. Please bring a serving utensil for your dish as well as your own plate, utensils and water bottle or cup to save on waste and help Dianne with clean up. While children are welcome, the house is not "kid-proof" so please keep an eye on your little ones if you bring them with you.

Montclair Vegans events are a safe haven for vegans. Everyone is welcome, but if you are not vegan, please know that debating veganism is not allowed at our events. Conversely, vegans should not lecture omnivores on what they should or shouldn't be eating. Our events should be fun for everyone. Also be aware that while everyone is welcome at our potlucks, all food must be vegan, which means no meat, cheese, milk, eggs or honey.

Please don't RSVP unless you are serious about attending. If you something comes up and can no longer attend, remember to change your rsvp to "no". People who are chronic no-shows or who repeatedly drop out less than 24 hours before an event starts are frequently removed from the group.

    Hi all,

Thank you Dianne and Dennis for being such welcoming and gracious hosts! And thank you everyone for the great food (!) and the pleasure of meeting and chatting with you all. Susan and I are both looking forward to the next time.

For anyone who is interested, I can email you the recipe for the Cashew Tofu Creamy Curry (I can't figure out how to attach it here)

    Best,

    Harold

Nice seeing you the other day. Just wanted to let you know we got The Grit cookbook today. Looks like a great book (and restaurant). Can't wait to try some out. Thanks again for the recommendation.

Hi! My daughter and I are looking forward to coming this Sunday (barring any more snow). We will be bringing a mango/black bean salad (from the book “Forks Over Knives”) and testing out a new vegan recipe for Shepard's Pie made with potatoes and beans (from an old booklet by Jennifer Raymond, author of "The Peaceful Palate"). We are planning on making the pie tomorrow, but are a little concerned that it won't be good if it’s baked the day before the brunch. Would it be all right to put it in your oven for 1/2 an hour on Sunday? We are both novices at vegan cooking, so please bear with us!

Yes, both Elizabeth and I enjoyed meeting you and Kevin (?). The brussels sprouts were delicious. I hope to see you at an upcoming event. Maybe by then, I'll know what I'm doing! ;-)
